I just looked at the release date of the upcoming movies this year, and the only two movies that seem interesting to me so far are X-Men 3 on mai 26 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on July 7. There's the Superman movie, but I have the previous script they planed to use, and it was really pathetic so I don't have much hope for that one...

Is it ust me or what? I don't remember any other year where there wasn't at least one interesting movie every month or so...

...Yeah...last year at least had Episode III to look forward to.

I can't say I have anything to say about this year in movies...I just hope that Hollywood comes up with some actually entertaining stuff in the next year or two, instead of feeding us this bland fodder, and making a killing off of it, and lowered production costs!

Yeah, there isn't any new original movie coming out this year, it's all sequels or throw away movies for a quick buck. Nothing big in sight.

Question Mark

<font color = lightgreen>Firewall, starring Harrison Ford; release date 10 February. Maybe not a winner for many of you, but I like Harrison and he hasn't had a good movie since What Lies Beneath.

The Pink Panther, starring Steve Martin, Kevin Kline, Beyonce Knowles, and Jean Reno. Fans of the old Peter Sellers films will enjoy this, as only Steve Martin brings the necessary skills to fill Mr. Sellers' shoes. Release date 10 February. The official movie site.

V for Vendetta, starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, coming 17 March. The official movie site. By the way...when is the Watchmen movie ever going to be made?

Scary Movie 4, starring Anna Faris, Carmen Electra, and Leslie Neilsen; release date 14 April. How can you resist such campy fun?

MI3, starring Tom Cruise, Lawrence Fishburne, and Ving Rhames; release date 5 May. The official movie site. Tom needs some money, people. Enjoy your popcorn.

The Da Vinci Code, starring Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Jean Reno, and Audrey Tautou; release date 19 May. The official movie site. For the non-initiated, Jesus and Mary Magdelene married, had a family, and moved to Southern France.

X-Men 3, starring...well, lots of people. You know who they are. Release date is 26 May. The official movie site. 'nuff said.

Superman Returns, starring Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, James Marsden, Eva Marie Saint, Parker Posey, Frank Langella, Kal Penn, Hugh Jackman, and Peta Wilson; release date 30 June. Directed by...Bryan Singer. Of the last 2 X-Men movies. Oh, my. Really, now? Note that James Marsden and Hugh Jackman are also in the film...only a month after reprising their roles in X-Men 3; Parker Posey was last seen in Blade Trinity. My goodness! DC must have paid big bucks to land them.

Whoops! It looks like my movie preview site doesn't go past June for now. More listings later. </font>

Well I'm not really a fan of stupid humor so Pink Panther is really low on my list. Firewall doesn't seem that interesting. I haven't heard much about V for Vendetta but it seem interesting. MI3 is probably going to be a rehash. I "read" the The Da Vinci Code audiobook and it's not my kind of stuff. I'll of course see X-men 3.

They made too many changes to Superman. He come back from a trip to krypton to find that the Earth doesn't want him anymore and Lois Lane isn't in love with him anymore either. Doesn't sound like Superman to me...

Exactly, that's why he got his power, and his weakness...

The guy in charge doesn't like Superman or comic books, he want the script writer to reinvent Superman.

<font color = lightgreen>That is why movies are always based on something else, but the screenwriters generally have free reign to redefine a character however they think will sell the movie more effectively. Sometimes this works--Alfred Molina's Dr. Octopus is a much better character than the comic-book version, as is Alec Baldwin's Shadow/Lamont Cranston (the man is truly afraid of himself); generally, though, it fails--Halle Berry's Catwoman.

**********

I was checking the movie news for any other releases. M. Night Shyamalan will be releasing "Lady in the Water" later this year. For those who watched "The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan" you know all about water and its symbolism in his movies.

Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of Ron Howard, will be playing Gwen Stacy in Spiderman 3.

Apparently they will begin filming on Punisher 2 this summer. Tom Jane will reprise the role, of course.

Paramount dropped the Watchmen movie project...but Warner Bros. picked it up. The latest rumors: John Cusack as Nite Owl (a very fitting choice), Sigourney Weaver as the Silk Spectre, and Daniel Craig (who?) as Rorshach.

The latest info about the next Bond film, Casino Royale. No megalomaniacal dreams of world conquest and/or destruction by the villain this time; this bad guy is the financier of other bad guys. This Bond will also be a touch more arrogant than Brosnan's Bond; more like Dalton's, that is. Also, this movie won't be quite so "over the top" as Die Another Day, which really stretched the limits of credulity, even for a Bond movie.

It appears that Joss Whedon will indeed direct Wonder Woman, to be released in 2007.

Iron Man is back at Marvel Studios, but there is still no director, screenwriter, or actor cast yet. hmmmm...pre-production problems.</font>

I'm looking forward to this year actually:
Miami Vice
Poseidon
MI3
X3
Inside Man

Lotta remakes (Vice, Poseidon) and sequels, but I'm looking forward to some good popcorn flicks.

Thanks for the V for Vendetta release date, I saw a preview for that and it looks real good. I know that Eragon is supposed to come out sometime and Harry Potter 5 will prolly come out late 2006 or early 2007.
