I just downloaded some new portraits for Icewind Dale, but I don't know how to get them in the game. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Billy,

Once you've downloaded all of them portraits, create a folder called 'Portraits' and store it in your IWD directory. Once you start creating a new character, choose Import or Customize i think. That should do the trick.

Follow the above instructions but with the following clarifications. When selecting a portrait you should see a long narrow button with "Custom" written on it. Pressing this will bring up a list of the current contents of you're portaits folder, with separate viewing windows for the large and the small portait. You must select one large and one small or you'll get a strenge blank space where the portrait should be.

Actually I was wondering whether anybody knows what's the actual size for the big and small portrait in a bitmap file? I downloaded somw cool images from Hajime Sorayama and Boris Vallejo to put in it but I keep messing up the sizes.

The large Portraits are 110x170 bmps and the small ones are 38x56 bmps. The small ones could be 36x58. In order to check it simply take a screenshot (by pressing Print Screen) and view it in Paint, drag a box to find out the portrait sizes. The small portraits have to be in 256 colour or they start to look odd when status and spell icons overlay on them. The same sizes are used for BG but the BG2 ones are slightly bigger. I hope this helps (the measurements are in the readme file on one of the game disks).
