Is there any way to lighten up the screen. Some places are so dark you can't find your way around. I am certain I am missing things. I have my monitor all the way to 100% brightness. Any way to brighten the screen from within the game?

Some of the dungeons are SUPPOSED to be very dark. Try wearing one of the rings (cyan for example) and watch things lighten up considerably.

Hmmm.... I don't have that problem.
You mean at night? Inside caves, etc? I find that it's too bright at night. But then again, I'm playing an elf and haven't tried a human yet. Maybe for them it's darker.

It is really dark, especially early on, I made a post about this myself. I found I had to use a torch all the time in chapter 1 until I found a ring of cyan, which was annoying because I couldn't dual wield or use my bow. But when you get some sort of item that gives light (many rings, glittering necklace, some shields and weapons, helmets) it gets better. Plus when you get outside of Neverwinter the areas are much lighter (at least during the day)

Thanks all for your advice. I'll definitely be looking for a ring to help me out. I think I do have a torch in my inventory I can use also.

you could go into options/video and raise the gamma but I prefer to leave it dark

And don´t forget - using a light source nearly negates your chances for backstabbing etc.

You don't need to search for one-
the Temple of Tyr sells rings of Jade and Cyan, all you need to find is money.

You could always try a piece of armour or jewelery that has its own light. That helps quite a lot and is what im doing at the moment.

you know, that gamma setting in the video options does actually serve a purpose .
