I have decided to try my hand at a Wizard Slayer, but I an not impressed with the amout of Magical Resistance the kit gives (something akin the the Monk would be more in line I think). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of magic resisting items. I know of the sword of Balduran (10% MR), but I was wondering if there were more to be found.

Any help would be appreciated.

Truth be told, Wizard Slayers get jacked, especially when it comes to Magic Resistance. Sum total of what you can get:
A certain sword (10%)
A certain shield (5)
A type of armor, usable only in the Chapter 5 areas (5%)
A certain suit of armor, first available in Chapter 6 (20%)

And that, my friend, is IT. 35%, plus your piddling 1% per level. The only ways a Wizard Slayer can get remotely decent MR is by either
1) Having ToB and Dualing to Thief
2) Installing Oversight, which does many things, including boosting a Wizard Slayer's MR to 4% per level
3) Installing Tactics and winning a very difficult fight, in exchange for a Cloak that Wizard Slayers might not even be able to wear.

I don't know if you consider this spoiling... but just in case

you want magic resistance, make a monk or a paladin
a paladin can use the carsomyr, wich gives 50%
and both can use ring of gaxx, wich gives 10%
and theres is also a 5% and a 10% amulet

Actually, my Wizard Slayer has 2% resistance per level. My level 17 slayer finished the game with 44% (base 34 +10 with a certain 2hand sword) and I really enjoyed using him. I never found the armor sixofspades mentioned, but that would have boosted me to 64%, which is nothing to laugh at. Anyway, I took wizard slayer for roleplay reasons, and wasn't disappointed. Don't forget also giving enemy wizards a cumulative chance for spell failure with each hit, which isn't great but helps when fighting certain powerful spellcasters.

Funny thing is, that at lvl17 a monk would already have 68% base MR. Put on a Gaxxring and an Amulet and you're up at 88%.

This is how I remember the wizard slayer the first couple of times I played BG2 and it used to rock!. But playing him now only gives a 1% MR per level which sucks. the only mod I have loaded is the Imoen romance and latest patch *unlike previous Wiz slayer walktroughs*. I seem to remember him having better use of rings and stuff also. Has the kit been downgraded over time cause the Wizard slayer used to walk like a god through the game.

No class/kit was intentionally designed to overshadow the others. Of course... there will be oversights, but for the better part, all the classes/kits are supposed to be evenly balanced.

You have no idea how hard it is to say all that with a straight face.

That said, a pureclass Wizard Slayer is still a force to be reckoned with, and I mean as in without the aid of Mods. One must remember that it is not only about his Magic Resistance, for that is truly only the icing on the cake when it is in fact his Spell Disruption skill that terrorises spellcasters.

But to ask the question again has the kit been dowwngraded. I'm sure I used to get more MR per level before i installed TOB and full patch. and more access to rings. Can anyone confirm this?

My wizard slayer, as mentioned above gets 2% per level. Here's my setup, for reference:
SOA only +patch, baldurdash.
I added kelsey, sola, and freedom's reign mods, but not during my initial game, so they didn't affect it either way.

I have always had ToB installed, so I don't know if the kit was watered down or not. But I do know that the kit only gets 1% per level, even though the Kit Description still says it's 2%. Wizard Slayers have to hit ToB levels before they start getting a good MR, and even then they're still behind the Monk.

I know installing ToB does make some Wizard-Slayer changes (with just SoA, they couldn't even drink Healing Potions), but I'd be surprised if they actually made the kit weaker.

....except that the Spell Disruption only takes effect on a hit, and a spellcaster who can get hit is already dead. (Except for Dragons, of course, but most of their spells are scripted anyway.) The only protection that Spell Disruption can punch through is Stoneskin, and with all the Elemental-damage weapons flying around, your Warriors don't give a damn about Stoneskin anyway.
