I've never recieved a spam email with gmail, even with hotmail it wasn't too bad, sure it was annoying, but not horrible, and they all went to junk so it was fine with me. 2 meg of storage however was not fine.

I got one spam mail once in my gmail.

I'm not sure if their spam filter is really good, or if gmail/our adresses are still too new to for most spambot.

I am not worried much about any spam that Gmail may bring. It now offers POP access, which I find quite handy because I restart Firefox reguarly (after tweaking preferences), and so I prefer having my email in a separate program. Which is why I use Thunderbird, and will use its spam filter if ever the need comes to be.

They now offer POP access? That's great! I hate html mail.

But how will they make money? There advertisement won't show, right?

No ads, no. I'm guessing they'll make enough money from the people who prefer webmail, and from the ads they have all over the internet... or, they may decide to charge for the POP access (although there are apparently "No plans to do so", and doing so would seem to go against Google's reasons for providing it).

EDIT: Anyway, to enable POP access (if you have it - they're rolling it out gradually to all accounts). Go into your GMail Settings, and look in Forwarding and POP. The options are self explanatory. Ignore their instructions on setting up your mail client: they're good, for most clients, but very verbose. To put it very simply:
Your incoming server is pop.gmail.com , port 995, using SSL.
Your outgoing server is smtp.gmail.com , port 587, using TLS.

How can this method of advertisement still be generating enough money to make it worth it?

Who exactly saw the email I received yesterday titled "RE: Old Aged Woman want to play" and decided it would be a good idea to open it?

My isp's email get 7 porn spam a day...
I don't even know what the heck you're going on about?
