There have been many predictions concerning the end of the world. Throughout recorded time prophets have long predicted that they knew the time and date. Some have looked into various holy writings to find their answers. Others have looked to the heavens and seen portents in the stars. The planets are lined up or THE comet fortells our doom. I wish to offer my own theory.
You see the SPORTS GODS have spoken to me and have blessed me with this message. The world will end the day after the Super Bowl in 2003. Now I know that this seems crazy and when I first received the divine word I was sceptical. I demanded of the Sports Gods 3 signs that this was real. As of this last Sunday all the signs have been fulfilled. The END is near. You may be asking what these signs are (rhetorical question within a soliliqy). I shall tell you. The first was that the Dallas Mavericks would be the best team in the NBA. The second was that the Dallas Stars would be leading the NHL. The third was that the Dallas Cowboys would win a game with Chad the man as quarterback. Sad news indeed. Proof that the world is coming to an end. Let me offer you this solace. Have an onion. Hate to burst your bubble, antryg, but really the Bruins are the best in the NHL. Played 4 less games, but only 3 less points. Mathematically...
And yes, I know what the score was.

It would all make sence. But there is a flaw, prophet antryg. In order for out world to come to an end, it would seem to me, all sports teams in any given city would lead there respected sports.
Yet the Cowboys have one but a few games, why would the gods rain death upon us for just wining one. And what about the game of baseball? There are holes in your prediction, prophet.

I don't know if it signals the end of the world, per se, but I think it does signal the end of the hot streaks of the Dallas teams. I predict they will start falling one by one (okay, okay, the Cowboys are already down), and real teams will take their places.

True Moose- I didn't say the Stars were the best team only that they were leading the NHL. Besides if you had been paying attention the last few days you have noticed that I have only been saying good things about Canadians, the Flames, and the Oilers. I even said something nice about you. Now you'll have to dig through all the threads to find it.
Iron Ranger- There is no "flaw". These are the signs that the Sports Gods said they would send. You can't dispute that they are here. Thus the world is going to end. Have an onion. |

But it doesnt add up. The stars are leading, the Mavs are the best, and the cowboys won a game with whats his face. The sports gods I think would have more of a puzzle type scheme I think. Where it would all connect.

The puzzle connects at the Super Bowl. At that time the Flames will be leading the NHL, the Lakers will have filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and quit playing. The world comes to an end because the Cinncinati Bengals will win the Super Bowl.
