Just wanted to adjust your point Zoltan. Wisdom does affect the number of wizards spell to memorize. Check the BG : SoA manual page 118. You'll see that if you have, for example, a wisdom of 19 you'll get an extra spell on 1st and 4th level. Wisdom also effects your "reaction adjustment" and it decreases your spell failure..Just wanted to put that straight.

Isn't that for Clerical spells rather?

Wisdom only affects the number of memorizable cleric and druid type spells. And, the bonus is cumulative. So, with a wisdom of 19, you'd get 3 first, 2 second, 1 third and 2 forth level spell slots extra. Magi have another bonus for a high intelligence, being that they can write more spells in their spellbooks.

I've found that Edwin's lore skill was sufficient for almost every magic item in the entire game. I can't imagine why one would create a character (bard) for basically identifying items. A total waste.

Edwin gets high Lore because when he decyphers Nether scroll, get gets 20 Lore bonus. I believe to identify +2 items you need at least 40 lore.

Aerie also has decent lore, and she isn't a bard.

Clerics and Druids have an obsence amount of spell slots for Lvl 1-4 spells.

Sigh... wish I had that many with my Mages... ...
