Done and done!
Now if I only should start playing the game myself. It's been collecting dust for a long time now. Good thing vacation's coming up.

Willow? Is that really you? A pleasure to see you again, my dear! I was in your fair city last week for a quick visit... gone in a day, really.
Make sure you get the first patch, and hopefully the second (masquerading as the third) will be out by then. Just had my first real glitch last night... I'll post about that shortly.

Ouch!!
This game got hammered down in the gaming magazine that I read!! It got a score of 49% (out of a possible 100%). They say practically everything sucked: glitches, crashes, no music, bad controls and so on. And this with the patch installed. I'm sorry Z, but maybe this forum was a bad idea?!

Reviewers are not unbiased people - they tend to make a point of being as critical as they can because it is good for them to do so. While many people's game choices may be influenced by reviewers, many are not. There are quite a few people who enjoyed W&W (which was also panned) who will play DLs. It doesn't hurt to have a forum for this game however badly it may have been reviewed.
While I am in total agreement that this game should never have been released in this sad state I still believe that once all the needed patches are available it will be a decent game. Aside from being very busy, I've put DL aside until the patches are out. What I'm waiting for is automap - I don't care about being able to personalize the look of my character and some of the other features that have been omitted thus far. DL isn't going to rank as high on my game meter as W&W but I think it will be enjoyable once automap is available! |

I'll second what Wyvern said. I've run into one graphics glitch and that's it. Everything else is either a minor annoyance (like the flinking rings that won't stay on) or planned (like there being no music -- they wanted you to feel like you were in the wilderness or dungeon). Given that, I haven't run into anything that's a show-stopper.
Now, as for things I'd like to see differently... well, that's another story

The dungeon parts of the game are cool.
The overland parts of the game are really poor 49% is being generous. Its not just negativism its like, there are 3 towns with shopkeepers and some guards.... and thats it, besides random monsters in an area thats literally miles wide that you traverse between the 6 or 7 dungeons. Overall I havent finished it but Im going to say its about a 60% game. I cant paint a rosy picture, I mean I had fun with it in the dungeons but I can recomend so many games over it including wizards and warriors. I hope more people play it so i can chat here with them while im finishing it but I cant be dishonest about it. The last rpg game i played was vampire bloodlines and it was about 100% better. |
