In the asylum I found a magic bowstring. Now I am about to leave the island but I never found the bow to go with the string. Is it on the island? Where?

You cannot go back to the asylum, the only way to do that is via the cheat mode. The correct area code is on the Ironworks site. Alternatively, you can just cheat the string into your backpack

yes but going back and actually fighting to obtain it will feel less cheatish. Some people prefer that...
