Geez, Larry, even I would not do that to you, especially because I don't know how to mail a link. (Tries to stick a sausage in the CD-ROM drive)

Someone, will have gone onto an adult site, and their will be an advert with something like :"Sign up to XXX mail". All they have to do is enter an email addy in the space provided....but usually, they want a clarification reply...unless your friend has found one that doesnt....

Bot mail, and subscribed. The 20 or so a day you receive in a public accound (i.e hotmail) are sent by bots (therefore botmail), which just means they send them out to millions of combinations of email addy.

Larry has been sent SUBSCRIBED mail, which means that a certain being has entered his email addy into a VB box, which has then added his name to a list, which is how he recieves the porn.

You cant really stop botmail unless it says "unsubscribe" anywhere on it....which they often dont.

Good luck larry!!!

Even if they do have an "unsubscribe" link on it...don't click on it or reply to the mail. That's the way they check if there's a "live person" at the other end of the e-mail. Once they've determined that, your goose is cooked, spam-wise.

There are several options you have to fight back:

1. Check to see if your e-mail has an option to block the addresses at the server level...that way they never enter your mailbox.

2. Display extended (full) headers to see the originating ISP of the e-mail. Send a complaining letter to that ISP's "Abuse" account (for example: abuse@tgeweb.com. Make sure you forward a copy of the spam e-mail to them with the full headers showing and the original subject line. Most ISP's don't put up with abusers of their TOS. I've gotten rid of several spam "artists" this way by fighting back from my Yahoo e-mail. Result? Minimal spam.

I didnt know about the unsubscribe, as I just find it easier to delete them.

BTW, most mail providers (i know hotmail does), provides a junk filter. Turn it on full, and most spam of all kinds, goes direct to the trash can!!

Lavi Im pretty up on things like that...since its part of my profession NEVER NEVER NEVER respond to these mails even the UNSUBSCRIBE links..ESPECIALLY the UNSUBSCRIBE links that lets them know theres a warm body attached to the email address...when that happens you are toast!

Larry, can I say, I think it's quite admirable, not to find out who he is and get him in the shit...but maybe you should??

I mean, obviously the intent is their to frustrate and annoy you, possibly even trying to get you in trouble...Maybe it is best if these kind of people weren't on the IW at all....
