Yevaud

It seemed a shadow descended on the chamber as the blackened speach of the drow was used. But it instantly brought his mind around to the immediate danger such a creature posed. He could not leave the drow to escape. It's evil was a blight upon all that was good and pure in the world. Yevaud pinned the guard to the floor with his gaze and said in a low voice, tinged with a not so subtle warning, "See that she is kept safe, I've a drow to attend to" He then moved her hands carefully from his shoulders and set out the way she had come, not heeding whether the others were following him or not.

Ramella Tarina

Fifteen minutes had passed while she tried to persuade the boy to move. She could see that he was afraid of something, but he could not explain what it was. She did find the situation disconcerting, as night was starting to fall.

From the corner of her eye she suddenly spotted movement. A large brownish-orangish cat was running along the street towards them. It ran past Ramella and Danny and continued, seeming to be running as far from the town as it could.

While she was looking away Daniel spotted a stray dog and went over to stroke it, but the dog as if feeling a sudden fear let out a loud yelp and bounded off towards the exit of the town. Above Ramella could hear several birds moving swiftly away from the tavern.

"Danny! Come here!"

There was a certain edgyness in Ramella's voice as she started realising that maybe there was nothing wrong with Daniel's fears. She knew that animals ran from evil instinctively, and the animals moving from the tavern did seem suspicious.

"What is it?"

Ramella did not answer, but stood nearly dumbfounded in the middle of the street. She had just felt the presence of a banewolf, although she did not know what it was.

Ramella Tarina

She stood as if transfixed for several long seconds. What had just happened to her? Was it the same thing Daniel had felt half an hour earlier? Ramella's thoughts were moving fast and at first she did not notice Daniel tugging at her shirt. Then when she looked at him she saw the sheer terror in his eyes. Seeing he had attracted her attention the boy released her shirt and whispered:

"Listen!"

Ramella listened and sure enough off in the distance she could hear a strange sound. It could have been a growl of a wolf, but it could have also just been the sound of the wind. After she heard it after two more times however she was pretty sure that it wasn't the wind.

Over on the other side of the town, closer to the Tavern she heard the sound of a shutter being slammed shut.

Then she heard a much louder growl, coming much closer from the tavern. Even to her untrained ear it was evident that no simple wolf could make this growl.

Suddenly sensing the urgency to move she grabbed Daniel's arm and ran with him towards the nearest house.

The unexplainable strangeness she could feel in her lower stomach was intensifying. Reaching the doorway of the small house she started knocking frantically on the door.

Senora chose a place in their chosen spot for the night apart from the three men, yet still close enough to be among them. A sliver of moon bathed the area in a soft glow allowing her just enough light to see their faces from within the shadows of her hood. She took the opportunity, as she did often, to study the men. After having spent much of the evening in random, yet pleasant conversation with Larry she had decided that at face value she liked him. Of course, time could reveal otherwise, but for now she also regarded him as little threat to her and as the least likely of the three to be the source of the evil that she had felt earlier in the evening. Either he was a very good actor or he had no hesitation in bearing his soul to her, a stranger. Was he truly that innocent and had nothing to hide?

Without lifting her chin from her knees, she shifted her gaze to Morgeruat. The warrior had been nice enough. He had been willing to fill the space of time as they traveled with information about the order he had formerly served under. Being a priestess, she found the information intriguing, as she knew little of Keldorn’s Order. However, she had kept herself intentionally guarded with him. She knew that paladins rarely “left” their orders on good terms. She also sensed that besides his willingness to make light conversation with her, he also was carefully guarded. It was as she pondered this make shift traveling companion that he stiffened his whole body as he jerked alert from the resting state he had been in. Senora, who had been forced over the years to master much of her own reaction, kept herself motionless. She did not so much as flinch when the warrior started, she simply remained silently watchful. He took a few moments to scan the area for what she could assume was any sign of danger. He then almost self consciously looked at each of them at the camp and a look of mild relief quickly washed over his face before he closed his eyes again. He took some deep cleansing breaths and settled back into the restful state he had previously been in…almost. He might be able to pass as relaxed and meditative, or even sleeping if it were not for the way he gripped his staff. If only she could read him at that moment. Something had frightened him or at the very least alarmed him enough to bring about such a reaction. She again thought of the evil presence she had felt earlier. Did he know something she didn’t? Were the two situations even related? So much she didn’t know. It would be hard to find sleep this night.

Finally she allowed her thoughts and sights to fall upon Joseph. The man she knew the least about in the group. She had earlier assumed him as some sort of a mage, she was holding this assumption until she knew better. She really knew nothing of the man. Thus far they had not spoken to each other. When she had arrived he appeared to be in some sort of a meditative state and had since gone to sleep for the night…or so one might think. After a few minutes of silent observation she decided that he most definitely was not sleeping, meditating and relaxing perhaps, but not sleeping. If someone were to ask Senora how she knew this, she might have a hard time explaining her reasoning. However, something about his posture and breathing led her to this conclusion. As if to confirm her thoughts the man opened his eyes and turned his head slightly to look directly at her. She kept her posture just how it had been hoping he would assume her sleeping as the others were. Instead, however, he simply winked at her and smiled briefly indicating his awareness and possibly humor at the fact that she was studying him. He then closed his eyes again, seeming not to mind. Senora however, was ever thankful for her hood as she felt a hot blush rise within her face at being caught. She much preferred the position of “unobserved observer”.

Her gut instinct was that neither of these men were the source that she had felt earlier. However, if she had to pick one of them and mark them as the most likely candidate she would choose Joseph. He seemed the most adept to that around him and also the most mysterious. She would keep her distance for now. Having conceded that she would find little to no sleep this night she simply closed her eyes and tried to quiet her thoughts finding peace in silent prayer to her goddess.

For Yevaud vs. Kynnen

Kynnen will be given one opportunity to escape without a fight if he wishes it. Otherwise, we will have another PvP battle extravaganza.

The bladesinger rushed through the exterior doorway, believing that if Anarrima said that there was a drow out here...then there certainly would be. He scanned the gardens for any sign of the intruder.

Kynnen 84/85

The creaking of a door opening somewhere behind him was enough. The drow jumped to the side into the bushes, then rushed towards the marshes as silent and as low as he could be. The first step into the mud slowed Kynnen down, but he was already out of sight under the trees.
Running out as far as he could, Kynnen's feet were aiming for the roots of trees to have a firm stepping.

~~~Evil Moderator Mode~~~
DM'ing for Kynnen and Yevaud.
The drow has been on the surface for only a short time. He would not have such high skills in escaping through marsh-country without making the slightest sound that a trained elf could not detect. Therefore, albeit the sounds of escape are minimal, they can be heard by Yevaud who is more capable than Kynnen in the current enviroment.
Yevaud has spotted his enemy.
Yevaud may make a move, but be aware that the drow is two moves ahead of you in distance.
Ramella Tarina
No one answered the door. No one was home. The fear mounting in her Ramella tried the doorhandle but the door wouldn't open. Frantically, holding Daniel by the hand she ran over to the other side of the street. The house where she knocked again was a smallish one, with faint candlelight sifting through cheap curtains.
Her knock was answered by a male voice, sounding to be in the forties.
"Who's there?"
More sounds were starting to come from the direction of the Tavern, and then suddenly a howl pierced the night sending a new wave of terror through Ramella.
"Please could you just let us in? It's just me and my son."
The door opened a crack and a man looked out. Seeing that Ramella had spoken the truth he opened the door further and ushered them in, locking the door behind them.
"We were planning to go to the tavern, but..."
"I have felt the strange presence towards the tavern also. You can stay here for the night if you want."
The man had his left arm in a sling.
He smiled when Ramella inquired about it.
"My name is Jonas. Normally I work in the kitchens of the tavern, but four days ago, when chopping wood for the fire I dropped a log on my arm, when bending down and broke it. So now I have time to stay home with my daughter."
"Julia come. A little boy has come. You could play with him."
A small, blond haired girl came out from under the table where Ramella hadn't spotted her before.
"Hello my name is Julia." - she said to Daniel. - "Do you want to come and see my toys?"
"OK"
The sound of toys being taken out of their box was suddenly broken by another howl.
"Under the bed! Both of you! - Jonas said to the two children.
He then opened the door and peered out towards the tavern from where the howl had come. He couldn't see anything, but both he and Ramella could feel that something was very wrong.
Inquisitor Marcos of Snowdale - 98/98
People were running out of rooms, up, down, back again, out into the swamp. Drow were spotted left and right, raising cries of alarm. It was your typical unorganised chaos, and it would most definately not do.
The elven priestess he owed his breathing to, mentioned she did not enjoy the thought of her guardian facing a drow alone, but this dashing in every direction was madness. The elf hardly paused to speak a word of explanation.
But there had been a drow. A drow and the mage, and something else unnatural. That much he remembered from his previous test.
The danger was real enough.
Still, he decided, this was folly. If the elf would chase down the drow then the inquisitor wished him all the strength and fortune in his encounter, but for the time his attention must be on justice, and the true threat to the forums.
As the priestess appeared to be in no state to take a confession, he would have to start on his own.
The inquisitor turned to Vincent and Silt.
"I apologise for your involvement in this situation. Though it was necessary to involve you in the questioning and you have certainly been of assistance, you have become engaged in struggles no common man should need witness. There is no end to the twisted ways of corrupted mages and the destruction they wreak. Though there is still a drow threat, I do not ask you take up arms to end this. Ask for a pair of horses at the stables, and return to your normal lives."
He stood for a moment, then added: "I myself will be looking for other survivors of the collapse. If I find Silverfall, be assured that he shall remain in good care."
As luck would have it...since I have been waiting for a reason to...
"Sir Marcos! Good...to...see...you...alive...sir!......~puff~.. .~puff~...I bring word from my superior...~puff~...of the wreckage...that...that...there is nobody there...~puff~...Whoo!...Sorry sir...~puff~...outta breath...
There's something else...we...we found something... ~puff~, ~puff~, ~puff~, ~puff~... Something is under the...castle!"
