BOOOOOOOM

The people heard it and they all turned in unison to see what the commotion was behind them. It was the Mage, Oley! He was messing around with magic while drunk again!

"GODS! RUN!! HE'LL KILL US ALL!"

The crowd decided that their personal safety had become more important than watching Kasimno cut somebody with that blade of his, and they dispersed as fast as they could, not knowing what Oley was even doing, but previous experience told them that he was probably drunk and they remembered that day his house went floating over everyone's head when he was kicked out of the trade market section of town for causing too many accidents.

Within a moment, the streets were abandoned and people were inside shops (not including the Inn), watching from their windows, or far enough away as to think themselves safe from any magical fires that might erupt...or for that matter, any flying houses...

The Innkeeper opened the door and warily peered out, seeing Sever, Kasimno, and Pandaros.

He could see Oley in the background with a couple guards and a strange-looking kid. It was a bit too far away for his failing eyes to make out that he was actually seeing an elf.

"By the gods, what is going on out here? Hey! What are you lot doing there?"

Milanthir, the Elven Mage

----

Gods... Why did the only mage in town have to be a drunkard. I would have thought for a short-lived human, refuge in drink would be pointless...

----

The two guards near him seeming to be unresponsive to his question, Milanthir simply waits, as is the way of a being who numbers his childhood years in triple digits.

Pandaros

Pandaros stumbled forward and caught himself with his hands, avoiding a hard fall. He had just noticed Sever's sign to move in when the explosion rocked the area. As he regained his footing he pulled the short bow from over his shoulder and nocked an arrow, eyes scanning the area for an attacking mage. Then he noticed the prone form of Oley and relaxed his bowstring. Pandaros switched the bow for the sword hanging from his belt and tapped Kasimno on the arm.

"It's time for us to do our part."

Pandaros rushed to the inn, intending to follow Sever inside.

For Milanthir:

The blast had startled the two guards, and then the both were distracted when the townsfolk began scurrying for cover, knowing that when Oley was messing with magic, it was best to play the safe card. When the ringing in his ears had ceased and the smoke cleared out of his nostrils, Karl answered to Milanthir, "You'll do no such thing. If I have to, I'll bind your hands and gag you if I see the slightest bit of magic trying to be used before Oley sorts this out. Just remain silent."

Of course, Karl did not know that he should have already done just that, for an elven wizard can be quick to cast a spell without one even knowing what has happened. However, he trusted Oley...albeit maybe just a bit too much. Its not like he had any other option...

Milanthir, the Elven Mage

----

Ah well. So much for trying to help. Perhaps an illusion... No, it'd fool them, but I have no need to provoke this Oley, who I'd wager despite his drunkenness is as perceptive as any well-trained mage.

----

Milanthir does not speak: this is response enough to Karl's demand. He readies himself mentally, however, to cast disguise self should the need arise.

Kasimno

"Alright," Kasimno said, feeling a little guilty about cutting the man. Kasimno was ready to attack, he would attack anyone who made a motion towards him with a drawn weapon,Just wait for who makes the next move, if one of us does then i know what I have to do, and lets hope that mage isn't as strong as oley

Oley, He casts the spells that makes the bad guys fall down

Oley blinked a few times and wheezed again, loosing another yellow, sulphur smelling smoke ring. He then began to stand, brushing himself off, and began speaking. No words came out however, only bubbles, which drifted and flitted about as bubbles do, when they popped the words came, some sounded like Oley's voice, some sounded like that of a small child, others sounded gruff and gutteral, and all tones and ranges between as well as wildly shifting volume. unfortunately the bubbles did not pop in the order in which they were spoken, and so the response from Oley was a jumbled mishmash of words overlapping, out of order and completely nonensical, at least until the cursing began, those words seemed even more creative with the jumbling creating a few entirely new words to horrify anyone's mother.

Vindson

Sound, commotion, bright flashes and explosions they were all lost to Vindson, as he added the finishing touches to the items he had crafted in the past hours. He placed the cooling sword gently on the anvil, where he had hammered it out, and left it there to cool off.

After such hard work he was looking forward to a drink with Oley in the tavern, and after locking his workshop that was where he started heading. On the way there he spotted Oley, and from the scene guessed that some sort of magical mishap had happened. Vindson waited for his magical friend to finish his jumbled mumbling.

"Is everything all right, Oley? What happened?"

For the Team:

Pandaros never saw the attack coming, and before he knew it, he had taken a heavy cut to the side as he was running past Kasimno towards the Inn to assist Sever, now that the Innkeeper had peeked out the door, and everything seemed safe to approach.

An attack from a jumpy ally was never expected, and Pandaros had taken a few steps in running towards the Inn before he even felt the pain. Looking down, he saw his right side bleeding.

But did Kasimno even know what he had done? Looking at him, Kasimno seemed to be distant in his thoughts, staring at the location of the BOOOM, seeing Oley who he recognized as the drunkard mage of town, but also seeing an elf. An elven mage, to be exact.

How Kasimno discerned that he was looking at a mage who he had never before met never occured to him to be an odd thought. Actually, he had always been able to do that. He could look at a person and see some truth in them and about them. He had never told anyone about this before because he was afraid that his parents and others in town would distrust him.

There were two drawbacks to his strange talent. He was menatally dislocated from all things around him as though he were in a trance for the period of discernment. Also, he could not just turn on or off this strange gift or curse. It came and went on its own, sometimes during the worst possible moments. This was probably one of those bad times.

OOC>>>Pandaros: -6hp physical damage to right side of body.

Sever

With the sound of Oley's magical outburst and the subsequent noises of a scattering crowd, Sever's expression turned dark. He stopped in his tracks and, again, forced himself to look. The details were barely visible through the haze - from this distance at least - but it looked much the way he imagined a failed casting amongst a group of people would look. Chaotic. The only thing of small consolation to Sever was the sight of Oley's smoking form slowly rising to his feet. From all appearances, his main objective in Lockesville was alive - for the moment at least.

But just as Sever was about to turn back to the innkeeper, he witnessed another dramatic setback to their plan. Blood forming around Pandaros' right side and the apparent instrument of blame being held in Kasimno's hand. What on Ironworks was happening?

Sever now wore an expression similar to that of a cornered beast - right before it pounced. Or before it got impaled by a hunter's spear. Either way, it was an expression borne out of total helplessness. He silently uttered his special curse - his extra obscene profanity reserved solely for moments such as this - and wondered again why he'd opted to leave the comfort of the tavern for a task not essential to his mission. A task that had now gone completely awry. Or had it?

For a brief instant he imagined himself in the position of the Lockesville fugitives, and smiled. A simple plan formed in his mind as he pictured the scenes of panic that must have befallen his prey at the sound of Oley's magic. But if his gamble were to pay off, he must act quickly.

Not knowing exactly what had happened amongst the members of his group, and seeing Kasimno's somewhat dazed posture, Sever opted to go it alone for the moment. If it was an accidental cut in the confusion of the moment (quite likely, he thought) then he trusted the pair would catch him up in due time. If not, well, two fighters duelling it out in front of the inn could only serve his makeshift plan better.

Walking briskly to the innkeeper with hands raised in as calm and unthreatening manner as he could manage, Sever intoned:

"Believe me when i say it's safer for you inside, good man. Please do not be alarmed. There is much i must talk with you about. And precious little time to waste."
