depends on where you're at. In the US it's sorcerer's stone.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I've not followed the series myself. I've not read the books and had never watched any of the movies until this movie opened. I had asked my sons if they were interested in the movies when they came out. They weren't, so we didn't go. But that changed with this one.
My youngest one (7) saw the trailer and wanted to see the movie. We went to the local video store and rented the first movie on Saturday morning, then went to see the Half Blood Prince that afternoon. Since I knew almost none of the backstory, I was able to judge the film on its quality and entertainment value and I enjoyed it on those aspects. I liked the movie, although I'm sure it would have meant a lot more if I had seen all the others first. My son liked it as well. Since then, we've rented Chamber of Secrets (which all 3 boys really seemed to enjoy) and Goblet of Fire (I thought they did a fine job on the Horntail myself, but then again, I never read the book). So, from an un-informed viewer PoV, I thought the movie was pretty good. It was obviously a set-up for the next movie (or two), so I was a little disappointed there wasn't any real closure to any parts of the storyline, but that would be like wanting some closure in the LOTR: Two Towers movie. It isn't a story in itself (so much). It is a transition and setting for the final story.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Saw this movie, ok I was late. But the way Dumbledore died it was so lame. It reminded me of Star Wars 3 where the jedi masters die one by one so cheaply.
Dumbledore : "Please Severus!" Snape : "AbraCadabra!" *Zap* Dumbledore : "Aaaiieeeeee!!" *Falls on the floor* Snape : "Wtf u nub! u r suppose to teleport away! Now reload and we do it again." Dumbledore : "Zomg! I forgot to save!" *dies* |

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Lol, yeah, it was a bit like that. I was mostly disappointed by the lack of accuracy, e.g. (SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN IT! TURN AWAY NOW!)
The Weasley's house being burned down. What on Earth was that about? Something similar to that happens in the seventh book, but it was weird. Anyway... |

Bah, it was great as far as HP movies go.

Re: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I thought they were all excellent. I could not say I like one over another. This was a lot darker than the others though.
