could there be a smarter way? Loved this game eminsly, but I often wonder whats the use of getting dragon scale, and other powerful magical weapons to use after you no longer really need them???
I mean come'on . If I'm gonna slave my tail off defeating an enemy give me somewhere later in the game the ability to reap! my efforts.. anyone else see what I'm talking about?? replies welcome!!

I guess it depends on when you do the sub-quests in the game, but you are right, by the time i went to windspear hills, i already had plate+2 for the 2 npc's who could even wear armor, and getting the fire resistant armor AFTER beating the fire dragon, the greenstone am AFTER dealing with mind-flayers, I know what you mean. cart before the horse!

Been there done that. Seems like most of the time by the time I acquired an item, it did not greatly improve on what I already had. I must have played the game in reverse. Actually, I did miss many of the quests and the ones i did do I did after getting Imoen

Even though the armour was better, I kept the Red Dragon Scale. If you wear that and the helm, you can have two different rings when thwocking wizards/liches (AC matters not against them)

Red Dragon Scale is arguably THE best armor in BGII

it is magical, true, but you can wear ring of protection +2 with it!!!!!!

black dragon scale is darn good because you can hide in shadow with it
