Actually, I would suggest that the behavior stems from the Cognition theories of "Primacy and Recency"...you tend to remember the first and last things you hear, and forget that which is in the middle. Consequently, when someone mentions "Spam", since that's the latest thing on your mind, off you go and start doing it!
Advertisers have been milking this theory for years. I'd think it would probably work here. (I majored in Consumer Behavior in grad school, if you can't tell! )-Sazerac |
