I agree, Nerull. I have McAfee's spam blocker, which I run first, then go get my mail, and instead of 178 emails last night, I got 25 emails in my inbox, all legit ones, even.
Those products are well worth the few bucks it costs for them!

I read a posting on either slashdot, or www.wilwheaton.net where a spammer had logged on bragging about all the money he had made from spamming people, and he was promtply hacked (to find his address) and signed up for every junk snail-mail mailing they could find, he recieved somthing along the lines of 1000lbs of spam snailmail a day as a result.

Yep. You get spammed if you put your email almost anywhere so be careful. If you ever get a new email account watch as you start to put it out on websites how your inbox fills up with crap.

I get far more spam on my hotmail account than I do on Yahoo... even with the filtering settings set up to their highest levels.
I hate spam...

Cnet.com has some good stuff for getting rid of spam, including a download that allows you to not give your real email address when you have to give it (and still get the regular emails the site sends you).
