Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner

* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!

* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)

* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

PLEASE NOTE

This is a modified reminder that I've posted before in reply to someone asking "can we spam the cafe". It still holds true, so I'm going to repeat it periodically for anyone who hasn't seen it.

Read the first post of the thread, it's NOT a spam zone. If you want to discuss you grades, a problem with a teacher, the weather, your neighbor's new car etc.....etc.. (real life conversations) this is the place. I don't mind a SMALL amount of spam but when the Cafe gets to be 8 pages in one day and it's all one liner pure spam, I have to ask people not to do it because most of the members who would come to talk about their day or things that they want advice or sympathy or cheers on, will not post in that atmosphere. I want you to be comfy here, but not at the expense of other members.

So the answer is NO, I don't want to see page after page of roleplay spam or one liner spamfests that could be done on msn or aim etc. because our goal is to TALK WITH one another , not fill up a cafe in five hours.

Good morning! I'm fighting the dreaded allergies this morning. Danged forsythia is blooming and I always have the runny nose/watery eyes sneezy fun times when that happens. *wishes a giant herbivorous monster would make off with all the nasty gold shrubs!*

And we still don't know how my friend's mom is doing. She's still in the hospital and they haven't figured out what is causing her to have so much trouble walking and to fall over like she did. Sigh...it's so hard to grow old....

First non-Cloudy post! Bring it on!

*edit* Whew! My day is complete now...

Sorry for the sniffles, Cloudy. My wife gets really bad reactions to spring pollens and stuff... the one time a year she goes to the allergist to get all sorts of drugs and medications. It's never bothered me the same way... really ticks her off

I hope they can find something out for your friend's mom soon. Like Tom Petty sang, the waiting is the hardest part.

It's warm here today, with temperatures in the mid-60s (or around 18 for the ROW). Too bad you're over here, Cloudy... if you weren't in the sky, it'd feel a good bit warmer

LOL, it's all good...you're on the first page, at least Stratos!

Bungleau, please tell your wife I sympathize completely on the anti-allergy front! I've been faithfully popping my Claritin every day for a few weeks now and still get the sniffle/sneezy effects on some days. Forsythias should be outlawed, I say!

Hehe....sorry about the lack of sun there but hey, everyone needs a little Cloudy weather now and then.

It is reasonably quiet in my office today so I'm going to go off and get some work done in a minute.

Extra muffins, cookies, tea and expresso in the back, help yourselves and don't knock over the ever-replenishing M&M bowl again....it took us a week to pick up all those m&m's!

I'll try to keep my clumsiness to a minimum...

Corina has some five or six different meds... from eyedrops to pills to some nose irrigation thingie... More than I care to think about.

Enjoy the quiet day, Cloudy... and Stratos, if it makes you feel any better, it should have been more than a minute. I got caught by the 50-second window between posts, or it would have been two of 'em

Yeah, cheap consolation. Here... have a and some M&Ms....

Is it possible? Have I made it onto the front page yet again? Twice, in two cafes...*faint*

Oh yah...done the nose irrigation bit and antihistamines and decongestants....no eye drops though, contacts don't get along with them. But then right now my eyes are all puffy and red anyway...

I've gotten a fair amount of work done this morning, considering how I feel with the allergies doing their thing, so I may try to leave a little early and go home to be miserable in more comfort... LOL, if that makes sense! Hubby bought me some Puffs (no lotion!) so I'm good for...well, something like a few hours...until the 100 or so tissues run out! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaachoooooooo!
