Ok, I have gone through the ritual to open the Serpent's Head. I move inside and flip the switch. If I'm standing to the right of it, the right side becomes solid and the left disappears to open up the slide. If I go down it, I end up at the bottom with a thud and an difficult inability to easily rotate around. South is a passage leading up which I can't move to. It didn't go to the Serpent Masters room I keep hearing about. Did I miss something or is this a game glitch? I have tried reloading/rebooting and nothing changed.

Very odd indeed. When you flip that lever the floor is supposed to open and you are supposed to fall all the way down to a room where some cobras will be awaiting you and the naga in the room beyond that. But that doesn't sound like where you are. Sound like you fell half way but not all the way down. Try moving around and see if you can't complete your fall.

Anyone else have some ideas??

Based on my experiences (and those of others) you have to jump up as the floor opens to avoid getting caught between the two ramps. Otherwise you just spin there...

when standing to the right side I just pushed the lever a second time and it dropped me into the serpents lair. I tried loading and replaying 3 times before this worked for me. luck.

I initially tried the jumping when it opened, and still fell to the same point. When I'm there, I can't jump, though the sound does echo if I try to run. I have tried wiggling into the floor and that didn't help any. Oh, and I also have tried flipping the switch again. Multiple times has no descernable affect. I even went back into the main chamber and closed both of the side gate switches. I'll try jumping with my Ratling rogue selected in case its a size thing, but its acting like I'm stuck in the floor.

Thanks for any advice.

The only way to continue the adventure if yoiu really can't fit through the hole is to keep stacking crates until you reach one floor above you in the shaft. You miss a bit, but you can continue the main story at least.
