I've been fooling around with taking high-level characters into the OC and have run into a bizarre circumstance.
If a class level reaches 21, the game goes crazy. Experience awards suddenly zoom sky-high. Enemies yield hundreds (or thousands if the xp level is set to 200%) of points. But that only occurs if the *class* level hits 21. I've brought in a number of L21 characters before this, however they were all multi-class. Experience awards were normal, even though these characters typically reached a total of 31-32 by game end (this at the 200% level). I find it strange that this happens only on class level, not total level. Does anyone have an idea as to why? And more important, is there anything I can do to keep the exp normal for a single-class character? Even ramping the xp down to the regular 10% doesn't help. The awards are still too high, even with the weaker opponents (and it's not the weaker ones I want to fight!). Arggh! |

Is this happening only in the OC, or in any of the expansions?

Seems to be happening only in the OC. I brought an L21 character into the expansions and xp was normal in both cases.
To show the magnitude of the problem: At 200%, an escaped prisoner normally gives 80 xp. At 200% with an L21 character, the same prisoner gives five *thousand* xp. That's just a little too much |

I think it's because the OC doesn't know how to cope with epic characters. It compensates for char lvl by adjusting cr for the chars. It may be beyond what the OC can accomodate.

Hmmm. In that case, why is it that only when a class level hits 21 does the problem occur? I've never had a problem with multi-class who go above 21, and the game handles that properly, including giving epic feats.

Read that as a single class lvl going over, and that's what the engine checks. Understand that I am just making an *educated* guess at this, but it seems very likely.

Yeah, that's probably the case. Now I'll have to track down some way of preventing that. Was hoping someone here might be up on scripting and could provide a solution. Thanks for your input.
