Photoshop Subsitute

i need somthing that is free and still functions well...please don't tell me about Opencanvas cause i've tried that and it's not really as great as ppl have said it to be. So are there any other good programs that can use. if there are can you tell me where i can get them.

Paint Shop Pro (www.jasc.com IIRC) do a 30-day trial but if you want something more permanent then you could try the GIMP...i don't think the Windows version is quite as powerful as the Linux one but it's still free i think.

but download it from http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/faq.html to save you any compiling etc. Follow the instructions carefully, you can get the two files by clicking the "stable version" button on the left hand side.

If you want to save gif files then you might need to also get this file http://www.iki.fi/tml/gimp/win32/gimp-gif-1.2.5.zip which you should extract to the plugins folder.

Go for the 30 day trial on JASC Paint Shop Pro. [img]smile.gif[/img] I liked the software so much I ended up buying my own copy. After rebate it was 70$. [img]smile.gif[/img]

WOW...Thanks Shamrock i never knew that there was gimp for windows YAY!!!unfortunatly i just formatted my harddrive to install linux to use gim and that did not work so i had to install windows back so technically i formatted my harddrive for nothing WHY DID I NOT POST THIS EARLIER...ah well better late than never thanks a MILLION!!!
