Very interesting, Mouse!

Just as a clarification: The saying "God Bless You" or "Bless You" wasn't because your heart stops for a millisecond. Back in the ignorant Dark Ages, the peasantry believed that sneezes were of the Devil, and when you sneezed he was trying to get inside your body and eat your liver. (Honest). So by quickly saying "God Bless You" to someone who was sneezing, you were keeping Old Scratch from doing his nasty work. There was no way they would have had the technology or know-how to know that the heart stopped for a millisecond...heck, these people still thought the earth was flat and the sun revolved around it!

Cheers,

You're right there, Saz! It was commonly believed that the Devil could turn into midget size and fly in through your mouth... that's possibly the same thing that made sneezing so "dangerous"

(besides, doesn't your heart not beat after every beat? I mean, the time in between beats is technically a stop, right? )
