By good I mean not evil-aligned. I am wondering if there are any good/nuetral mages that can reach high level spells. Might now i just have Jan and Aerie, but they are pretty slow going up.

I took a party to the end of ToB with Nalia. The only reason was
that I didn't have a thief so she made a decent thief. She's level
25 now, six 7th level spells, five 8th, and 3 9th. She can throw out
some massive damage quick.

time stop is one of my all time favorites!!!

Yeah, if your character isn't a mage, then, Nalia, is you best bet for a good aligned mage in the beggining even when you get Imoen, there both pretty equal. Thing is, if you don't go to underdark early, Naila, will more than likely be at a higher level than, Imoen, when you first pick her back up, + she has a nice ring from her family... Aerie, is a good support mage and cleric, it just takes patience to get her up to high levels, but once there she is quite powerful, just she so easy to kill, she the most ressurected character in my current party, but I'm dertermined to keep her this time.

I'm a little bit confused about Imoen. I heard about when she advances a level she learns 11 spells, including 3 6th level spells! So the best mage may be Imoen.

And I really wonder about the effect of Imoen. She's your sis. If you're playing a game without Imoen will you miss too much things? (quests, dialogues etcc?)

Nalia just can't cut it as the only thief in a party in my opinion (just like aerie cannot cut it as the only mage in a party). Imoen is a bit better as a thief so you can get by using her. If you save a bunch of scrolls then kick everyone out of the party when you get her back she will get a TON of xp learning scrolls. Then bring everyone back in. No sense in using Nalia if you would really prefer to use imoen.

I dont know how it would be possible to use nalia as your only thief... Isn't she (or is it imoen) dualled at level 4? I'm using a level 11 assasin in Windspear Hills, and even she has trouble with the trapped doors near the Mask of Strohm. Granted, assasins thieving abilities are lower, but thats over double the level. And once you get to ToB, how in the heck are ya going to unlock and detrap stuff with a level 4 thief?

Istaron,
A mage who advances to level 12, gains 1 spell if she's pure mage; 2 if she's a specialist mage. But Imo gets 3?

Floyd,
You're right, Nalia's thievery skills are low. She's only level 4. But Imoen is a level 7 (or 8?) thief so it's alright but my primary thief is Jan and I'm very content with him.

Death Knight,
I did a very bad thing. I completed all the side quests in Chapter 2. As I found Imo she has only 400.000 xp and unfortunately my Nalia's xp is 1.900.000 so I'm thinking about take Imo and raise her xp to 1.500.000 with shadowkeeper.

I decided to take her because (as the forum members said) she adds lots of things to game/she gains special abilities. I'm sure that she's got more and I'll see what's up. (it's strange that nobody disagrees about Imoen/Nalia problem)

I guess I'm missing something, what special abilities does, Imoen get, I didn't recall that the first time I playes through with her?

I agree that Imoen is the better thief/mage, but depending on when you go to underdark, Nalia could be quite higher in levels by the time you get, Imoen back.
