The shops are stupidly hard. Even with 200% you cannot steal in the Copper Coronet. Try multiple potions of Master Thievery

(It also depends on the shopkeeper's role to see you).
But I have always had better success if I had a good move Silently score, and then turned myself invisible. That way, nobody saw me approaching. Especially in homes, I always wait until their backs are turned. It always gave me better success...maybe I am wrong, but it worked... ------------------ Larry, a Loyal Guardian of the OHF |

It depends of the shop owner. Some are very easy to steel. Like the merchants in the underdark or the guy on the second floor of Gaelan Bayle's house. Also, if you look, in your game manual, the disavantages of wearing an armour on your thievin skills, you'll see that you will have a big penalty. So take it off. The gloves of pickpocketing also help.

Im not talking about pickpocketing but about stealing in stores, i've heard stories of people who have cleaned out all merchants in the underdark!

The same rules apply, no matter if it is pickpocketing, or stealing the wares...The previous threads give lots of useful info on how to steal more easily.

Can you 'burn out' your thief. Mine just can't steal anything, anywhere any more. Whats the score?
