The district manager came into the EB that I am working with a list of the top 100 selling games for 2001. Wizardry 8 is our 62nd best selling game for the entire year and it was just released. Just a interesting tid bit I thought you all would like to hear. Oh yeah, Diablo II is #1.

Very cool, Jaeger...but how many games are produced in a year?

I don't understand your point about how many games being produced. Mind expanding on that thought a bit. Jaeger |

I mean, if only 100 games are produced each year, it's not really that big of a deal...if 1000 games are produced each year, it's a very big deal. It helps to know what the total gaming base is. (I really don't know, and since you work in the field...)

~~saz~~
i just went to gonegold's us release list for 2001, which is current till today, and no december releases included. so far this year, his list has 256 titles on it. remember also, that there may be about 10-15 titles that carry over from year to year as top selling titles. (diablo, sims, halflife, unreal, thief, myst, etc) they continue to live on the best seller list even tho they weren't released in 2001. considering all that, i think #62 is a respectable slot. in fact, i think a publisher would be doing a happy dance around the office. i bet ian, linda and the rest are absolutely delighted! it's confirmation of something we already know!! I think considering the game is only sold in EB and has only been out for a couple of weeks speaks well for the sales even if only 100 games were produced this year.

YES! Now all we have to do is spread our praise for the game far and wide, get that word of mouth going and we may yet see some future incarnation of the Wizardry series...if only by another name....
