Oh god, there are so many phrases that have been abandoned. What seems to be happening with the "slang" community is interesting these days. It seems a lot of their forward thinkers (those who came up with the classics like dope and phat etc...) are getting out of the slang talking business. No one seems to be thinking of original slang anymore. It's all variations in pronounciation of some of the classics. Somebody mentioned that The Bomb is now Da Bomb, Phat is now Phizat, Dope is Dizope, and they'll add a "Z" do just about damn near anything else. The power of the mighty "Z" can turn just about anything into slang without having to exercise any actual creative powers. Not like it's much of a loss, but somebody needs to come up with some new material.

(Hey there, what are you up to?) Meant to be used when you don't want the people around you knowing what you are saying in front of them. It is nothing new to most black people and some well-informed whites and if thats what slang has become, I am going back to using words like funky and groovey! Moni ------------------ Is Too! Is Not! I hear what people are saying about slang: 99.9% of it is inane!
But at the end of the day, thats how a language evolves. Part of one generations slang is part of the language another gerneation down the line! ------------------ Fear? I know not the meaning of the word. And you can keep that dictionary away from me! |
