Do NOT cast Word of Death on something that is not alive (big stone temple guardian in Anephas' shrine) The caster will be slain, at least I was. An attempt to resurrect him turned him deader (bones) so I had to rebirth-ize him.

Actually, RealBinky, "Word of Death" works like that on anything, animate or inanimate. It's an "area" spell, so anything standing within the area of the spell's effect (including your characters) will be included in it. The same thing would happen if you cast a "Meteorstorm" on a Highland Rogue that was right in front of you (although I can't for the life of me see why someone would!)

HINT: Find items that increase your characters' resistance to Death. I did that and found I could use "Word of Death" with impunity, no matter how close I was. "Merlin's Shield" works well, too.

Realbinky: Yep. The others may have rolled successful saves against the death spell. If so, you probably got a message on your screen saying "Longtooth not slain." Depends on your sorcery skill as to how high the spell will be cast.

"Face of Death" is a single-target spell (and thereby safe to use, like "Burn" or "Pain")

"Word of Death" is an area-effect spell (and potentially unsafe to use if you're too close.)

But this raises an interesting question: are they sabertooths or saberteeth? For example, I have such an addiction to chocolate and other goodies of that ilk, that I always say I have sweet teeth, not a sweet tooth.

Its not the tooth that becomes plural, the WHOLE word "longtooth" is pluralized (also not exactly a word), so I used es because of the 'th'. ;]

Hmm, I may have used word of death on the guardian and the face of death on the longtooth (not sabertooth, goofy me) and thought I used the same on each....hmm, I'll have to investigate!

Just kidding, Binky - I didn't intend my comment about the longtooths as a criticism. It's just the way my mind (so-called) works (so-called).
