I found the locked passage to the gnomish settlement(a big purple highlighted region), but I can't find the umber hulks or get them to attack. I've been walking around this cave forever. As a result i can't get Tarnem to talk to me. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

...when I went up (or is it down?) the elevator and talked to the first couple of gnomes I went N/E from them (top right of screen) and the umberhulks started in on me...after killing them the village is just beyond that...basically the village is very close to where you are if you have not left the elevator....does any of this help you out?
