Well I'm just wondering because I know nothing about it and my brother just got one for his birthday and I'm thinking about getting him a good game, he's 11 so nothing to violent or to childish... (11 is a very hard age... ).
So, what would you guys recommend?

well...if you can get hold of a copy, i'd suggest thrill kill, for the PS1. its a fun filled family game . a SERIOUS game you might consider would be (dependant on the type of games he likes) Final Fantasy X for RPGs devil may cry 1 or 2 for adventure/platforming games (DMC rocks) SSX tricky for a REALLY great Snowboarding game that i happen to of mastered (okay, so i just want someone new to play against, can you blame me? nobody will play me anymore ). erm...shame aqll the other games i can think of right now are too violent (GTA3 or vice city and such)..erm..crazy taxi is good. i've been told enter the matrix is good. thats it...all i can think of...for now..

Gran Tourismo 3 (aka GT 3) is an awesome driving game, ATV Offroad is great too - there's lots of games you can play (tag for ex.) and Tony Hawks is also a popular game (not my bag, but a few of my friends spend hours on it)

Fifa 2003 is great for 2 players (especially if you beat your brother with 4-3 in the 90th minute )

I must say...
SSX Tricky.
(Did you know I've gotten every boarder to master ranking and have unlocked the new voice packs for the characters once you get ALL of them to master and gotten all their stuff?)

Here are some great non-violent games

Gran Turismo 3 (Best racing game ever)
Final Fantasy X (The greatest console RPG ever)
Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (50 times better than FIFA mind you)
Ape Escape 2 (You run around catching monkies- how cool it that?)
SSX Tricky (A cool, stylish snowboarding sim)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (If he's into skating..this is the best skate-sim)
Jak and Daxter (Cute adventure game- like Banjo-Kazooie on the N64)
Ratchet and Clank (See above)
Rayman 3 (Stylish adventure game)
