I've read the tips & lots of posts & am still having problems casting defensive spells like Bless or Armorplate on a party. I try targeting a character and no circle icon appears .I killed Mon with offensive spells which seemed to work well but when I tried either in combat or out of combat I couldn't get a target icon to work over a party member. Also can you cast Bless BEFORE a fight or only during combat like in Wiz8. Am I too close to the village for the spells to work or what?

1. Bless is an all-party spell. Cast it on the spell caster. All characters in your party should be blessed. The spell can be cast anytime you want (not only during a fight).
2. Armorplate. Who is your spellcaster? If it is a pixie then you seem to have met the "pixie bug" most likely. Pixies seem to dodge their own spells even if they should not do that. You'd better forget pixies in W&W. You will always have big problems with a pixie spellcaster.
3. The missing target icon is weird. I haven't seen it so far. "Blue" (that means, defensive) spells should produce blue target icons when you target a party member. But note that all party members aren't always allowed to be targeted. In that case, you shoud get a blue "entry forbidden" icon if you target an unallowed party member. Blue spells cannot be cast on enemies (unless you configure the game so that you can do it).
On the other hand, "red" (that means, offensive) spells cannot be cast on party members (again, unless you configure the game so that you can do it). They must be cast on enemies.
4. All spells in W&W can be cast whenever you want and wherever you want. No restrictions on "combat time" and so on.
5. Note: Only the active character can cast spells. The "shadowed" (inactive) characters cannot perform any action: neither cast a spell nor fight. The active character must do something. Then the character becomes inactive and another character becomes active. And so on. If you want to cast a spell then you have to wait until the spellcaster becomes active.

Welcome to the board, Robalex.

You just happened to stumble onto the best forum available.

If you are trying to cast a spell on a party member you must place the cursor over that member's icon and press CTRL at the same time. A blue target ring should then appear indicating that you can cast the spell.

Thx for answer.Btw I was using the shift key instead of the CTRL key DUUUUU..MBB. I still find the keypad awkward for a right handed person. I was so used to the way things went in Wiz8 and never used my mouse for movement there. It seems that with all the action going on in this game I have to get used to it.

Welcome to the boards, Robalex. May your blade swing true and your armor hold strong.

You've got the answer with the ctrl-click. Note that some things can't be done to yourself, but can be done to another party member. Consuming Mana potions has become particularly troublesome for the Den of Thieves...

You can configure your keyboard, IIRC, including that ctrl. Click the "computer" icon, select "keyboard", and check the three configuration pages there.
