The Shimmering Sash... casts blur on the wearer, which gives you a +3 to AC. Isn't that a bit much? I mean, for the cost of the sash. With a Mage/Cleric (yes I did this) You could have the sash, cast both the wizardry and clerical versions of Protection from evil, and have a -7 to your AC *withought* armor. Even if you didn't have those two spells, a warrior with the sash would be formidable.

Quite frankly, I think the sash should have been "Cast Blur maybe 4-5 times a day" Continuous blur seems... overpowered.

I'm not complaining.

It is good, but don't get carried away. It's like using a +2 shield. The difference, and this is where the value comes from, is that:

1) the Sash gives you AC from a spot that normally doesn't provide AC bonuses, and

2) the Sash allows you to use other enchanted AC enhancers.

I can't say it's any more overpowered than the +3 Helm of the Trusted Defender. From what I recall, it's nearly the same price, too.

Edit: One thing that might increase its power by a lot - it says in the description for Blur that it causes enemies to miss 20% of the time: does anyone know if that was truly implemented?

Well, a -3 to hit penalty (enemies against the wearer) is 15% on a d20 roll.

Question Mark

It is not overpowered, by any stretch of the imagination. By the time you find your way to Dorn's Deep or Dugmarten's Museum, you'll be hit more often than not. When you finally venture into the final area, Tarnished Sentries don't usually miss.

Ok, so I guess the 20% miss was probably implemented via the AC bonus. Too bad - a flat 20% miss chance in addition to a -3 AC would be nice...

It is a good item for the reasons I listed above; it helps you to create a single buffed tank with very good AC, but is only one component in the creation of a defensive tank.

The tarnished sentries battles are among the toughest in the game, IMO. Some serious spells and massive chopping power are required, unless you have the luxury of godly damage resistance percentages.

80% or higher, particularly against slashing and fire. 100% missile resistance against non-magical missiles is given by the 3rd lvl spell Protection from Normal Missiles.
