Just some of the disturbing facts that I compiled to show the state of the US population
--------------------
18.4% of the population over 25 years of age have an education level less than a high school diploma

12.5% of the population lives below the poverty level, up from 11.8 in 1999

38% of families (a family is defined as at least one adult and one child living in the same housing unit) receive some sort of government financial aid (i.e. food stamps, cash supplements)

6% of families earn less than $10,000/year in income

1% of occupied housing units have do not have full plumbing (lacking on major plumbing feature like a toilet), 1.5% do not have full kitchens (lacking one major kitchen feature like a refridgerator), and 6% have no telephone

1.5% of persons identify a car, truck, van, or boat as their primary housing unit

1% of the US population is incarcerated (prison/jail/mental hospital)

10.4% of single person households (i.e. a person filing taxes as an individual with no dependants) earn more than the average family income (average family is roughly 4 people)

Makes me glad I dont live in the US. Anyways, I think that many of those problems turn up in other countries, too... theyre hardly US-specific,

I know they are not US specific, but I only had the numbers for the US and it gives a pretty good look at most 'industrial' countries in general!

That's rough. A friend of mine crashes in the back of a volvo in San Francisco.

Look at it this way, are you one of those statistics?
If not then enjoy the fact that you're not and don't dread
on the inevitable. Smiles everywhere! Life's too short!
Just my own opinion.

That's right. Keep the head in the sand. If it's not happening to me it doesn't matter right? No sense in caring about others. Maybe I should stop sponsoring that child in Guatemala. I can't make a difference can I? No use enjoying life AND seeking to help others or do something about the situ.

*Looks at the bottom line of Moridin's sig and chimes in with* "It can't get no worse."

I love that song. Never noticed it in your sig before.

I feel really lucky not to be included among those specific statistics anymore! Hard work pays off.
Don't get me wrong, I still support charitable organizations...if it weren't for some of them, I'd have been hungry & naked at times!

well, i think its terrible that the country i live in has that many poor things happening. considering that 18.4% is quite signifigant w/ a population as big as this, it just goes to show how bad the education level/requirements in this country are. but i dont desire to just complain about this, but i cant really change it either. i guess that, for now, all i can do is hope that i dont wind up as one of those statistics, and try to help ppl that are part of them if i can.

It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury...What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet? Think how much energy would be gathered! Ha, ha, ha. And at the center of that injury, wil be me. All that boundless energy will be mine. By merging with the energy of the Planet, I will be come a new life form, a new existence. Melding with the Planet, I will cease to exist as I am now. Only to be reborn as a 'God' to rule over every living soul.
