I am in complete agreement with Ladyzekke, anime in any form really does get on my nerves. It's just the faces, really - those big, innocent looking eyes and annoying, screeching voices really put me off. Not to mention that it looks second-rate, cheap, tacky and extremely childish. I've quite often had rather violent thoughts towards anime characters

If you don't like anime/animation then you're probably watching the wrong ones . It's just like saying i don't like hollywood movies imo. Cheapo anime like DB, Pokemon etc (i know i'll offend some people and i'm sorry) are really quite terrible, especially when they have been chopped up and edited. However there have been many classic Anime films out that are really worth checking out; Nausicaa and Akira come to mind, very different, but both are simply spectacular animation AND story wise. Other worthy contenders are Ninja Scroll, Battle Angel Alita, Spriggan, Evangelion and plenty others i can't think of right now...but yeah...
I saw street fighter the movie ( with Jean claude van damme ), that didn't stop me from ever watching action movies again LOL
Give it a chance, you might be suprised.

Ghost In the Shell, Slayers, Dominion Tank police.
Why, all of those were quite good (better than Disney anyway )

i happen to like anime though all ive seen is DBZ(the american version. i always watched it on Cartoon Network ). the only thing i hated about it was the extremely childish parts. escpecially the blue fat guy who lives on a tiny earth-like planet. My favourite character was Vegeta(ive always liked mysterious bad guys ) i have added Princess Mononoke to my list of must-see movies, /)eathKiller. i hope i will get to see TRUE anime some day..

btw, i have NEVER played FF and i know NOTHING except 1 thing about it: the bad guy, Sephiroth, is supposed to be really cool and as much as ive seen from the pictures, he in fact is cool. that made me want to play FF . now, can anyone answer me if FF is a RPG?

FF is an RPG, and Sephiroth is cool, yes. But he's a weakling. And not as cool as Vincent, trust me, Vincent is the incarnation of coolness.

Okay, I think I will add my two cents. I think anime is, as said in another post, a look into another region's likes/dislikes, and culture. I think it can be good just like regular cartoons. I mean look at some of ours! Some SUCK! Some are good, and some kick @$$! I think its the same way with anime. But with the way they are edited and how much is cut from them... its sad really. Un-cut versions where things accually happen are good. Unless, of course it sucks to begin with.

Out of all of the shows that you can see in the U.S. off of TV there is only one I really like, and that would be Cowboy Bebop. If you think anime is childish.... uh.... no. Some are. Others arn't. And some have just been edited with american voice overs that suck to the point where it makes the show suck. Also I think that anime also looks better than alot (well maybe 1/4 at the least) of the new stuff out of america and other Wester countries. Some of the drawings SUCK to the point of disbelief!

Anyway that was nothing more than the rambilings of my inner mind.

PEACES!

I hate anime, too -- and largely for the reasons spelled out in the 'Something Awful' article on how to create your own anime. Didn't care to express my views here in this respect previously, but now that someone has I thought I'd join the chorus as well.

Give me Merrie Melodies or Harveytoons anytime. I honestly far prefer Bugs Bunny and Casper.
