We had a game once with a severely inexperienced player who chose to be a rogue with four hitpoints. Before we even got inside the temple he had died from a simple staircase trap. What I find funny is that a fighter and mage can outlive a trap, while a rogue, a specialist in arming and disarming traps, doesn't..

Both of the events I mentioned actually occurred in a game. I wasn't in the game with the paladin, but the guy who introduced me to AD&D was. He was one of the best gamers I ever met....the living embodiement of Chaotic Neutral. If the end result would be funny, JL would do it. In this case, the character's were high level (20+). JL played an evil fighter and the paladin was the party leader. The group came to a hallway that practically glowed with magical traps. The group was trying to figure out how to disarm all the traps without spending hours doing it. Suddenly JL character grabbed the back of the paladin's armor in one hand and a Wand of Healing in the other....then just started shoving him down the hallway. As traps exploded all around them, he would periodically zap the paladin with the Wand and keep going. They cleared the hallway in mere minutes instead of hours. The Barbarian Magic Missile was an attack of my own design. My college roommate VulcanRider played a mage and I played Cerek. These two were always antagonizing each other because barbarians and mages just don't get along on general principle. He had been aggravating Cerek throughout the dungeon, and did something else too him during the middle of a big melee' (can't remember exactly what now). Cerek suddenly spun around, grabbed the mage by his robe, and slung him at the closest monster. His mage managed to pull a Wand of Lightning out of his pocket and BLAST the monster just before he hit. Like I said - something good is bound to happen.
