Alright, after clocking the game 3 times soloing, I decided to do it again with a "more" intelligent Monk. So I distributed my attributes like this - 18str 18dex 18con 16int 14wis 3cha. And after I started the game I found out my Monk only had 46hp. Then a few days later my hard drive got corrupted and I started everything again. Only this time my Monk had 17con and in the game he had a base hp of 57. So I was wondering how does the game calculate HP with ur CON score? And how many CON shall I give my monk?

It rolls it, bonuses with high con.
Monk is a warrior class, and so has bonuses due to 17+ con; so basically give 'im as much as you can.

Actually, I was under the impression that monks were not a true warrior class but more akin to priest, as per 2nd edition AD&D rules, so anything above a 16 CON was wasted. I could be wrong, though.

If you want a cheesy way to max out your monk's hit points during creation, make sure you go to game options before you go to character creation. Go to the Game Play section, and kick the difficulty slider down as far as it will go. After you make your character you can reset the difficulty to whatever you wish. Note that this also works when you level up.

A Monk gains no Hp bonuses beyond 16 CON.

A level 7 Monk with 16 CON can have a range of 21-70 Hp.

That's just plain freaky. I've noticed that SoA gives hp bonuses to Multiclassed characters (more than would be legal), but it's only on the order of 10 or 15%, which I assume was meant to counteract any crappy hp rolls those characters would probably have had in BG1.

Note that while a monk is a kind of warrior, his hit points is determined by a d8 not a d10 as in fighters, rangers and pallies or a d12 as in barbarians.
