Re: For the conspiracy nuts
One of the first things, if not THE first thing, to be compromised in the digital age was photography. What makes you think these grainy black and white photos will convince the conspiracy dudes???

Re: For the conspiracy nuts
There is more and better to come.
"Though it had been expected that LRO would be able to resolve the remnants of the Apollo mission, these first images came before the spacecraft reached its final mapping orbit. Future LROC images from these sites will have two to three times greater resolution." |

I think what ElfBane is saying is that you could give a conspiracy nut a guided tour of the moon landing site and they'd still think it was a conspiracy.

Re: For the conspiracy nuts
I don't understand how people still think we didn't land on the moon. What a bunch of twits. It's almost as bad as the people who believe September 11th was orchestrated by the U.S. Government. Damn these nutjobs.

Reminds me of the video with, I think it was, Aldrin giving a knuckle-sandwich to a guy who got in his face about it.

Re: For the conspiracy nuts
Well, not busted per se. More discredited. They proved that the so called "issues" with the video/photo's could have occurred in conditions that would be encountered on the moon ( the double shadow from one light source, and the clearly visible astronaut despite the completely dark shadows around him) In the same action they proved that it "could" have been hoaxed, but not for the reason's they were testing against.
I don't think it was a hoax. If it was a hoax, it was hideously expensive to pull off, and I'm not sure what if any returns they could have gotten out of it.

There's plenty of flaws in the conspiracy theories I'm sure, but it is entertaining to think about, when there are such seemingly obvious motives.

Re: For the conspiracy nuts
The flaw behind the conspiracy theory's logic is that actually going to the moon was the result of political will. This is obvious when considering the history of the space program. Politicians made all resources available. The halls of NASA were filled with people determined to go to the moon. We made it so.
Also as an act of propaganda, faking such a huge event this would be much too risky for what amounts to intangible reward. The hoax being revealed was not an if, it's a when as we now know.
