I want it out SOONER! Cause if Vista is out sooner, DX10 is too! And if DX10 is out sooner, the sooner I can begin to wait! And the sooner I begin to wait, the sooner I shall finally come to the time of me getting a new PC! W00t!

Because winXP wastes a lot of resources on backwards compatibility that Vista doesn't. As long as you don't need that compatability, Vista should win. When you, then you have to put up with emulated DX9 and below.

newsflash!
Microsoft said that Longhorn would be a desktop-only release in November, 2002 ....
At this rate Longhorn2 (vista 3.1?) will be due in the year 2525.

So why do i want to buy it?

You will be happy to know Wellard that the code name Longhorn also applies to the new Microsoft Server OS, so don't be suprised if you see a "Longhorn has been delayed" message somewhere

AS Bozo's said, the main reason I am so excited about it is because of DX10. It is going to be simply awesome.

But it's so expensive! 400 bucks for Ultimate on an UPGRADE version. And I'm not even sure if upgrades work with OEM copies of XP.

Still, I'll be finding the money somewhere I suppose *sigh*

So what is the skinny on Vista in a nutshell? What are the major things it has that we currently don't have with XP. I guess I should say "need" since we eventually will need as everything gets ported over. Not anytime soon of course but still it's looming.
