Just a quick question..in chap 1 at helms hold there is a demon...I let it go...good or bad...got a magic cloak..will I rue the day I released the beast...thanks

I let him go as well, demons have rights too, just look at the American justice system.. I took the cloak as well, and if you got the same cloak ( cloak of movement, that is about the best cloak in the game so far in chapter 1 and 2..) beside they made a deal with him and welched ont the bargin... freeking goodie two shoe helmites.

Well i too let him go and haven't seen any bad side effects yeat and i'm starting ch. 4. Apparently though you will get a ring if you put the gardian of the temple back into the alter but haven't tryed it so i don't know what ring it is.

I banish the demon and get a ring that got 15 to resist of fire,electricity,cold from the ghost.

Seems you get different items depending on whether you free him or banish him. Btw, I banished him.

If you free him, you can get:

the Ascorian Double Axe +1 vs/ Evil, Vampiric Rengeration +3
the Dragon Slippers, SR 10, Dexterity +2, Immunity to Fear and Knockddown, or
the Cloak of Movement (Freedom of Movement)

If you decide to banish him, your choices are:
Periapt of Wisdom +1 - +1 to Wisdom
Ring of Elemental Resistance - Damage Resistance 15/- to Acid, Cold, Electrical, Fire
Elven Court Bow - Attack +3/Mighty +3

Seems both sides get pretty good loot

Yeah, just don't make the mistake of accepting information instead; you get screwed bad on that (I did it the first time, and he tells you NOTHING that you haven't already figured out yourself).

hmmm...maybe one need to reload the game to get different stuff from them.

If you're lawful good (may depend on how high your "good" stat is) you get the periapt of wisdom for free from the helmite guardian(I had 100 good and got it whatever choice I took) you can also take the blessing and get a temporary +4 (IIRC) to all stats, not really worth it when stacked agains the ring, or the bow (if you're a ranger or bow specialist)
