Not to worry. Time travel can remedy this blunder.

The "Civil War" event that's going on in the Marvel comic universe is genuinely the most interesting and entertaining read I've had in a good long time.

Basically;

(Spoilers)

Reckless superheroes instigate a conflict with some supervillains for some reality T.V. show, during conflict one of the supervillain's uses his powers and wipes out EVERYTHING in a 5 mile radius (including a school full of kids and countless other ppl). All the villain's and heroes die except one of the heroes and the person responsible for the killing everyone.

Goverment decides to introduce laws which make it compulsary for superpowered individuals to have to register their identity and powers with the government and go on their pay roll, those who do not register are hunted down (by superheroes who have registered) and treated as criminals.

The superhero community is split in half as many agree with the concept, while others don't think it's fair that they have to reveal their identity when countless villains would no doubt use the information to find and kill and harm their close ones.

So it's split right down the middle, X-men versus X-men, Avenger versus Avenger, etc. The story's interesting because it's supports both sides of the argument equally, and let's you make up your own mind on the matter.

I really suggest you pick it up if you're a fan of comic books, and even if you're not. It's the first Marvel comic I've read in 5 years.
