This thread has fallen, yes? Well, you know the rules. I'll start with a few:

Spade got #1 right.
Jorath got #2 right. I was in a Smashing Pumpkins mood. A great Chicago band, with awesome music and the wherewithall to bow out of the biz when at their best -- with the class to put out their last "album" online for free and to perform 3 final concerts for free in Chi-town. Recent Corgan interviews reveal he had an issue with the attitudes of popularity and the constraints of personality conflicts in the band. Since he wrote almost ALL their lyrics, I guess breaking out on his own was natural. I'm listening to 1979 again as we speak. A beautiful song among beautiful songs. One last indulgent 1979 quote: "I know you better than you fake it." Great quote! *Moment of Personal Truth* Because I had a run-in with Johnny Law at a Smashing Pumpkins concert in Louisville, KY, including getting roughged up by a cop who swore I'd never be a lwayer (a *horrible* venue, the Dead's friends refuse to return to this day -- You suck Louisville -- oh, and to that particular cop: F*** you, buddy, you were very wrong), I had an aversion to Smashing Pumpkins' songs for many years. 'Twas a shame. Anywho, go ahead guys. [ 10-27-2003, 02:36 AM: Message edited by: Timber Loftis ] |

Ah yes, Smashing Pumpkins, best band ever... can't believe that this year it's 10 years since Siamese Dreams came out andI heard them first
Have you guys heard Billy Corgans new band Zwan? It's pretty good, specially for old Pumpkins fans... Anyway here is mine: Just by looking through your eyes He could see the future penetrating right In through your mind See the truth and see your lies But for all his power couldn't foresee his own demise |

Here's mine:
Standin at the door of the Pink Flamingo Cryin in the rain It was a kind of so-so love And I’m gonna make sure it doesn’t happen again You and I had to be The standing joke of the year You were a runaround, a lost and found And not for me I feel
