Win XP + BG2 = Bad bad bad.

Lot's of members have asked the same question. No offense. I understand your problem. It just sounds odd that Win XP and BG2 don't fit together.

BS. They fit fine once you download the patch that Bioware provides. I haven't had a single bug/glitch since I did it.

Cool oldbittercraig. Maybe you should tell the lad where he can download it? I think he'll like to hear it.

I forget the exact IP address/link, but it came from bioware's website. Just go there and look under support.

I got WinXp and downloaded the official patch from bioware too. I encountered a NEW problem after patching. The underdark and demon plane won't allow me to use my map toggle. Sometimes I can and other times I can't...it just hangs up my comp so I have to slowly get out of BGII or reboot.

I tried to look for the patch that specifically fixes this, but could not find one there. The latest patch seems to not cover my problem. Someone said winxp had a mem leak, and dunno what needs to be done besides e-mailing microsoft. Did Anyone else have this specific problem and have you found a solution to it?

WinXP works fine with BG2, even though it's not officially supported. The key is in doing a clean install of WinXP, then doing your BG2 install over that. If you upgraded WinXP over Win98, chances are something may have stuffed up. You can try downloading the patch from www.bioware.com to see if that works. You may need to upgrade your graphics and sound drivers, they're usually the first cause of the problem.

FWIW I'm running WinXP and BG2/ToB and it works brilliantly.
