I played Wiz8 only once.. does that make me the exception here?
I brought over my party from Wiz7 (a true joy!). I had it rough for awhile, but I figured out quickly why.. 1) Seems the older games were much harder on stats, since they were random. My guys all had crappier stats that party members created or found in Wiz8. (And back in the day, I worked for many an hour rolling and rolling the stats for my guys, I think. Not that I rememebr how creation went back then, though 2) At Wiz8 onset, you get +5 levels for being an import. I used them right away.. big mistake. Since my guys were all lvl5 to start with,. I faced lvl5 monsters right away, and had the skills of a level1-2 (since only bought experience, not earned experience); That gives normal Wiz8 parties a big advantage.. they earned skills when they are easy to earn, and used the levels when they were harder. Being lvl5 and starting with your experience there just means its that much harder to grow skills IT hink. The road from the temple to Arnika was hell for me but a friend breezed through. 3) Ont he plus side, I had some killer equipment from Wiz7; I forget now the name of the staff I had (I played Wiz8 a year ago).. but it was extrended so a Valk in middle could use it. It was devastating the whole game. 4) Class changing is very different; my guys had stats unsuited to class change sin Wiz8, so I was stuck with dumb race selection from previous Wiz7.. I was a dumb kid then So all in all.. migrating from Wiz7 to Wiz8 is cool, but you can't be a newbie about it Anyone else go through it and have some fun stories to tell? jeff

Nope, but take into consideration of that you also start with either the Umpani or the T'rang or somewhere else. I don't know if you get any bonuses if you start out with either faction.

You probably importet a midgame wiz7 save file. Wizardry 7 had several endings, and your starting point depends on the end you choose.

I've played Wiz 8 many times and always start with an imported party, just to have the goodies i bring with me. after the game starts i simply create new characters with exception of my m-elf ranger with his elven bow (the best bow in the game IMO. and my f-mook bishop,(hey after all starting the game with 20 spell points in every book and 13 points in each realm, not to mention having 4 spells at the start ain't all bad). With the other 4 charaters newbe's you will face the same monsters as if you had a new party.
