I beat the game and I intend to start a new game but I'm not sure what to do. I played through last with an elven Kensai and I started a Priest of Helm but I'm not really amused at playing him. I have a Mage/Thief from BG/TOTSC that I might consider bringing in but I also wanna try Monk, Sorceror, Archer, and I could go on and on. Any ideas?

A mage/thief would definitely be fun, especially if you plan to play him/her through ToB as well. i would certainly suggets playing a monk sometime, because they are just beasts when they get to higher levels. Cavaliers are really good as well, I haven't played one yet but that's next on my agenda....

I'm finding out that sorcerers are a lot of fun and quite powerful!! A mage/thief of some sort might be cool though. I always wanted to try a swashbuckler/mage.

Now that you have played through once, try it in multi-player mode and create as many characters as you desire...then you get to play with the specific races/classes that you want, and can have loads of fun with a hand-picked group on this time through!

Well, I've decided that I'll be a Sorceror. It looks to be loads of fun and way powerful. After this time I think I'll go back to BG1 and play a fighter/mage all the way through ToB (when I get it). I'll play monk sometime and I'll get around to playing my Mage/Thief too.

I played tgrough BG1 as well. I found that with all these levels that dualing your charactor Fighter/anything can really kick. You gain lotsa HPs (esp if you go through BG1 where you have more control over what you get each level. BG2 is BRUTAL when rolling HPs). You can go grand master on your weapon of choice. Later on you can be a spell slinging tank. I always go multiplayer. The NPC's ALL suck compared to what you can imagine yourself, let alone their horribly irritating personalities. I don't know what I fear most, seeing a Lich/Eldar Orb/Vampiric Mind Flayer or hearing one of those idiots say something stupid AGAIN! I'm having fun now with an Undead Hunter with the Holy Avenger.

If 2, you should try elf, fighter mage thief. it's hot, because if you want to be a fighter, you can wear any armor. If you wear leather or studded leather, you can use your thief abilities. And if you wear robe, you can be a mage. And you can use any weapons at any time!
It's the best combination! :cool: cool!

Here's an idea that I've used to spice up some games recently: use ShadowKeeper to turn NPCs into the specialist kits you're interested in. For example, turn Cernd into an Avenger or Totemic Druid, turn Valygar into an Archer, Annoman into a Priest of Helm, Nalia into a straight Swashbuckler (later dual her to Mage if you must), etc.
In my opinion Valygar is *so* much better as an Archer... that's a change I make in every new game now. (Remember to reduce his Katana and Spear proficiencies to only one '+'; put the other two in Long Bow!)

if bg2 wasnt brutal with rolling hitpoints youd be able to create dwarves with 300+ hitpoints. lethal!

this is ma sole creation

play an assasin, then dual him to fighter

weapon:
dagger ++
cross bow + (for early game)
kantana ++
flail +
sword shield (your choice)
dual wield +++

the rest points you can attribute to your taste

the catch:

once you are adquete enough, you can poison your weapon, and hit every enemy once

then you just stand there, watching everyone die from poison! you poison deals shit loads of dmg! and it works on almost every encounter

the dagger proficient: you can purchase poison dagger AND poison it, and throw it. NO SAVING THROW!!! so basically, each hit does 60 - 80 poison dmg, and you can deal out four of those in a single round (8 with improved haste from Kangaxx ring) thats a lot

you can poison your arrows too, basically, your assasin/fighter can kick ass on his own in solo game

I named mine: Artemis Entreri
