I don't see any difference in typing it or not typing those apostrophes. as long as I or other people understand what I'm typing then its okay.

But that's the whole point. They're there to make understanding possible.

Or I could say:

Thats the hole point. Their there to make understanding possible.

The second phrase is goobledook and takes longer to interpret.

Correct spelling/punctuation shows consideration to other members, and that you care whether they can understand you or not.

Then you need to learn your English language.

Is it Ziroc's board or do you imply Ziroc's actually two things by saying "Zirocs"?

Are you guilty of apostrophical murder??

Come on... own up... you know who you are....
Yeah I wonder the same thing, Yorick. Most people are too lazy/ignorant/not learn english properly yet (in which case I can understand mistakes). However it's a sad situation I say when English is my 2nd language and I write it better than 80% of english natives.

ROFL nice one andrewas. At least I assume that was a joke Yorick gave one simple example of where the meaning changes in his introductory post.

When punctuated properly, it is correct and easily understandable. And it can be done.
I was saying that apostrophes are unneccesary punctuation, not that all punctuation was unneccesary.

Id like to see that punctuated though. I cant quite work out what its supposed to mean.

Try punctuating this:
Woman without her man is nothing
Men write:
Quote:
Woman, without her man, is nothing.
Women write:
Quote:
Woman! Without her, man is nothing!
Back on topic *cough*

I get REALLY pedantic about your and you're. Had a small chuckle on the bus coming back from school the other day; There was an advertisement for a local builder's firm and it went:
Quote:
Before you cement you're ideas
I was always taught, if you're unsure, to lengthen a sentance to see if it makes sense. Take the example above. It becomes:
Quote:
Before you cement you are ideas
Silly huh?

But how do people understand what you meant? Can they read your mind to determine what you really meant?

Working with computers for a long time, I'm still looking for one that does what I want, not what I told it to do. Haven't found it yet.... but I'm still looking. About the closest is ones that ask you to clarify what you're saying.

Oh, and to muddy the waters slightly... let me offer you a fill-up at the gas or petrol station with a complimentary car wash. Fuel is $10, car wash is $6. How much are you going to pay me?

And for the record, the correct punctuation above is:

Ann, while Bob had had "had", had had "had had". "Had had" had had a better effect on the teacher.
