Does lighting/infravision actually have any affect in the game?
I know about combat penalties/bonues from Blindness/invisibility etc., but are there any environmental modifiers (more so for ranged weapons)?

Doesn't that make the Helm of Infravision just about the most useless piece of **** ever created?

It should, but as far as I know it only makes people go red in the dark.

I get it -

Infravision - makes you glow bright red, save on lanterns and candles, by using yourself as a source of illumination. Unfortunate side effect of making you stick out like a glowing red person. Easy target.

No actually infravision allows you to detect enemies more easily in the dark. Thats it.

it really should have some kind of combat bonus/penalty system there. i mean, if u cant see a guy all that well, whatre the chances you can see his weapon to block it? and what r the chances your gonna see him roll outta the way cuz he has infravision?

In the PnP rules there are a load of rules covering all this, but Bioware did not put them in the game, I guess it would have been too complex, as you have to put to cover how much light is around and what penalties to apply.
