I don't mind cussing myself, belonging to the younger crowd here, but I will do as you say.

Seriously, Ziroc,, I totally agree. If one cannot express one's self without swearing or using scatological language, perhaps one should work on one's vocabulary. [ 10-15-2002, 09:24 AM: Message edited by: Attalus ]

I fully agree about not needing that particular word or some that are nearly/equally as bad to express yourself online. I know sometimes people get heated over a topic or a problem and it's understandable that sometimes you need to vent it, but there are ways to do that without offending any kids's parents who might be looking us over or other members who just might not like that sort of thing! LOL I guess we can all use @%%%$%!# if we have to
I don't think the occasional 'oh damn!' is going to get anyone banned. What Ziroc is saying is that using the f word is a NO NO, pure and simple. And cussing regularly is frowned on, but "occasional" use is not being 'censored'. I have noticed that most members already follow those common sense rules so it's probably not even going to effect most of us in our posting from day to day. But it WILL make us look a lot less 'low brow' as Z puts it (LOL, nice choice of phrase!) to people looking in and to ourselves! It sets a higher standard that makes it a much nicer place to be. edit: hehe, I have NO idea what johhny means [ 10-15-2002, 11:03 AM: Message edited by: Cloudbringer ]

Well I hope this did not come about because of the All Time Favorite Thread thread and my reminding those who remember it of the inFamous thread's existence! If that were the case, I would feel just horrible! I feel awful as it is being reminded that you were away when myself and others had two days of unrestrained cursing in just one thread!
I agree that cursing is not necessary here! Even I have learned to employ the use of the word "dang" and "crap" which I will admit was something I had to THINK about and something I now appreciate being able to do without having to think about it! I agree with Attalus' sentiments on cursing. As I have promised before to comply with the way you want your board run, Ziroc, this also will apply to my posts. No cursing and (*&$^%@#% in place of anything offensive that I might feel I HAVE to type cursing into my expressions! Hey, that's kind of fun...*(&#^Q$ (*&$^@$@ &@%@$#$*(%$ |

I'm not sure why this thread was required. Just your basic board rules and good judgment on the part of the poster is all that's needed. If someone breaks the basic rules...OUT!
Oh BTW the 3DO community board has an automatic intercept for bad words. They replace them with 'furby'. [ 10-15-2002, 10:42 AM: Message edited by: Arvon ]
