LOVE the new Egyptian ranks, Z! Thoth is so cool! I just saw a special on Discovery about the search for Imhotep and they uncovered a stash of thousands of mummified ibis (birds.. I think that's what Thoth's head is... anyone know for sure?). Anyway, NEAT!!!

Yes, Ibis is an African wading bird with a very long thing beak that curves downwards - just like Thoth there! They are really beautiful birds, lovely glossy plumage - although I never saw any when I was in Egypt I have seen some at a bird conservation park here in England

Ziroc, I adore the Egyptian ranks - my interest in Archaeology was sparked by the Tutankhamun exhibition arriving in London in 1977, and I have been Egypt mad ever since (unfortunately I never got to the British Museum to see the exhibition when it was here, but in 1994/5 I fulfilled an ambition and went to see it at the museum in Cairo!!!!)
More Egyptian ranks please!!

Wasnt Imhotep the dude from the Mummy?

I heard they mummified every animal that they had gods for. I'd hate to stumble upon a cat graveyard..I can just picture the endless fields of Choc skulls..
*shudder*

May I ask something? Why many ranks are Egyptian gods?

There's mythology in other countries too, you know...
Let's get nice avatars of people with fingers in dykes
And Nisse from Norway
And Achilles from Greece
And Santa (that's the one for the webmaster... Thanks )

EDIT: almost forgot:

NO pagasi, unicorns or unisi! NO, No, no, no, no.

He he..Nisse

But still..ranks with the old nordic gods..don't know what they're called in english , but on swedish: "Asagudarna"...you know, Odin and Tor and all the others..
Actually, one "representative" god from most religions, would be pretty cool..

Or perhaps a viking!
