Wah! I've got ToSC. Do you think DSOTSC is worth it? Tell me about Planescape Torment.

Okay - this is just some relevant stuff pasted from their site (www.teambg.com), so you don't have to do a multiple browsing
Formerly known as the "Dark Side Of The Sword Coast" it is meant to have the folowing. Here are the details: This is an unofficial expansion aimed at a 9-12th level party. So I advise that you take the party thru all of TotSC First! But you have to do that after you have installed this expansion. Otherwise the new areas will not be available. Of course you can always import your party in. Requires approximately 40 MB to install. (40!! WOW I was wrong!!) * 5 major quests well at the level of Durlag's Tower or Werewolf Island. * More powerful monsters than anything yet experienced. * Over 30 new areas. * 100 new spells. (Same graphics - different effects I think) * Over 70 new critters. * 80 new weapons, armor and other items. * 8 New NPCs to join your group. * Enhanced Original BG Quests and Encounters. * Experience cap raised to 20 million. * Level 40 rules pack is included (instead of the level 20 rules that come with BG/TotSC). (maximum level can be raised to 40) * Upon installation the program "DSotSC Installer" will allow the backup and restoring of your original BG/TotSC files (like "dialog.tlk", "Override" folder and "Characters" folder). You MUST use this tool to install or uninstall DSotSC!!! (don't worry - what they're saying is just to protect your original files in case it is a bit buggy) * All of this is in a FREE download about 21 MB in size!!! (Ah! So I was right after all!) On the other hand - in Planescape Torment you play as an undead dude who has lost his mind - brain dead. He meets up with a bony skull named Morte and tries to find himself (his identity) back together again. You travel through "Sigil", which is the outer planar world (of Faerun) and you go around talking to dead zombies, weird (and I mean WEIRD) people. It's okay if you like dead worlds, drony murky atmosphere - like I do to some extent, hehe. But if you go for action - battles and lots of fighting then it's not probably your game, because it's mostly strategy and less fighting (dissapointing that) One last thing is that the interface (or game screen) has changed so that you end up clicking through a different location to get to the relevant things (spell book etc.....) Try it if you like, I haven't got DSOTSC myself but if you think it sounds okay then give them a visit! http://www.teambg.com ------------------ Greetings Mortals. My Name Is Wah, Arch Lich Wah. |

I've played and beaten Baldur's Gate 1, and am playing Baldur's Gate 2. Fallout I beat about 3 years ago, and never tried 2. Icewind Dale blows in comparison to BG2 and as soon as I started to play BG2 I put Icewind Dale down to be forgotten in the anals of time. ; )

Thanks for the info, Wah!
Pennance: Have to disagree with you on IWD. To me it's a totally different kind of experience. Obviously very linear. Of course to me, BG2 was more linear that BG1. I like it and thought it was a nice little game. ------------------ O_H_F |

I have played half of BG I (I quit because I had an old computer and the game kept throwing me out, showing me only half of areas, ..., so I couldn't go farther in the game). I got very disappointed then and almost resolved not to play BG II at all ...
I only played BG II because I had changed computer. Now that I have finished BG II, I have started BG I again - hope I will finish the game this time ! Never played the other games. ------------------ The world is my oyster ! And now I have the knives to open it ... |

i've completed All of those except HoW as i refused to pay £20 for a few extra hours play of IwD. I found Fallout 1&2 to be wonderful in EVERY way.
------------------ "Then Bane, seeing the lifelessness and ruin in the middle of such beauty smiled, and spoke with a voice like that of carrion: "Let this place resonate with new songs; the cries of the warrior, the melody of clashing swords, the harmony of iron shod boots marching in unison over the stones, the crescendo of the death wail, and the chorus of the widow's lament. Let this place be a tapestry upon which I shall paint new scenes, and blood and ash shall be my pigments. These are the things that I cherish, and they shall dominate this place, as they do wherever the hearts of men are weak and quick to desire." |

Hey Reeka, Dark side of the sword coast is a really great and challenging(and funny)add-on.If you dont mind going back to 640x480 that is!
My humble old ISA 56k pace modem took it all in it's stride. DSotSC really did add a whole load to the game and took it to a new level i think, and it takes a while to complete also.-You do need to have TotSC installed though. |
