Out of the box.

I just bought BG2 and my drive is having trouble reading the disc. I'm getting pretty pissed and I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and what their solution was.

I had a similar problem, but only because my cd rom is terribly slow and, quite possibly, busted. If you can struggle your way through a full install, you can download a No-CD patch. Fixed my problem.

One of my CDs was off-balance, and would not read...and I had to take it back to the store and replace it, or suffer the consequences of the CD spinning at 44X in the CDROM, and exploding. You can tell by the louder than normal buzz...as mine was doing.

We had trouble with it installing some files first time- and wanting disk 5 (huh?) the next. Cleaned the CD rom and turned off all background stuff except explorer and systray with alt+ctrl+del, (which we didn't take seriously enough first two tries)- and then all went well to 100%.
