Multiple writs as a problem may be patch related. I don't recall ever having a problem, and I play with the patch.

I am selling as I've bought It is recommended to throw away superfluous writs when you run into problems with Pastolio, therefore, I am always keeping only one writ and I am always throwing the rest of them away immediately.
The problems with Pastolio are known from plain vanilla W&W. I've met the problems repeatedly Pastolio opens nad closes the mine chaotically and gives you bags of writs. If you are lucky, Pastolio switches the map odd times so that you end where you wanted to end. If you are less lucky, Pastolio switches the map even times and you end at the same map where you have begun. In the later case, it is recommended to throw away the writs, save the game, quit completely, restart, and try again. It works in my game. I haven't checked whether it works when I do not throw away the writs.

I have always been playing the game without using the patched. It has never happened to me.

Pastolio switches maps: the Mines - the wilderness. He works as a lever. Now, if he switches the maps odd times (once, thrice, ...) then it is okay. If you were in the Mines then you will be in the wilderness, if you were in the wilderness then you will be in the Mines.
But if he switches the maps even times (twice, four times, ...) then it is bad. If you were in the Mines then you will be in the Mines again. If you were in the wilderness then you will be in the wilderness again.
I am surprised that this bug is rather unknown. It was posted several times in the forum. I have experienced the problem several times, too. Perhaps, it is caused by some blunder in my english Please, correct me.

No, no - I perfectly well understand what your problem is. The thing is that I have never HAD any problems with having more than one writ. I have never tried háving more than two writs: One from giving a brew to Signeur Pastollio and the one found by the burnt body. So far as I understand the bug works in the way that one gives only ONE writ to Signeur Pastollio and he then returns more than the one given to him.

It is just that I am interested in hearing about the bug. I have heard of so many bugs that I have never experienced myself.
