the best weapon?

Ertai, the HA is a good weapon, i just think it's overrated. Crom Faeyr gives you godlike strength and massive to hit and damage bonuses, i don't think there is any question that it is the best weapon in the game. If you have grand mastery in warhammer you will kick anyone's ass with it. the only limiting factor to it is that you can only get it after the underdark so it reduces its value somewhat. otherwise you would walk through the first few chapters.

Celestial Fury probably offers the most value because you can get it early in the game if you have a good strategy for beating the group that has it. The stun ability alone would put it in my top three. Nothing like hacking at an opponent that is standing there doing nothing. it works against adamantium golems too!

I put Blackrazor in there on its innate qualities. If you take when and how you get it into account it's useless.

Unholy Reaver is very underrated. 2H sword which lowers the opponent's THACO (no save) each hit. Think: Grandmastery in 2H sword. Again you don't get this till fairly late in the game.

Vorpal: one in four chance of instant kill with anything.

In my games i just didn't get as much of an impact with the HA. The dispel magic ability is only useful for when your group gets chaosed and in that case i had viconia casting dispel magic anyway. And keldorn has dispel magic ability anyway so that ability is somewhat duplicated with him wielding the HA. Maybe if you made a paladin that could do more damage with it, Keldorn couldn't really. Not a bad weapon but i don't think it's as good as the weapons above.

The vorpal blade is cool too!! Pity you have to wait ages to get it after the....er.........er...... (See, I'm not going to spoil it's location for you people unless you want me too!!)

So I'll leave it there.

I had Lilac.. Llrila.. Lirla.. GAH! the talking sword for more than 2/3 of the game, it's easy to get, got some good immunities, and delivers some good damage, all in all a good sword.

And lets talk about another attribute of weapons...the graphics. On this I really like the Staff of Rynn +4 (the blue one). I really loved my sorceror with a stone skin (all grey) wielding this staff !!! I also would like to see dual wield the flametongue (with the BG1 graphic) and the sword that appeared in IWD that looked like a blue fire. Tha would be cool !!

Oh and Rikard dont forget some other people like Petrarcus ap Bhaal thats still over there (mainly in IWD forum i think).
